Exclamation Re: Womens USOSP: Picks and Results Thread

Do I really see 12 Alona Bondarenko pickers here?

Lesson for USO seems to be: avoid picking either for or against American players. Either way they're giving TATers the shaft.

(Maybe I should change my pick away from Roddick ... nah, no way he loses 1R, right?)

Re: Womens USOSP: Picks and Results Thread

We have one player waiting on Mauresmo...but needless to say, Day 2 proved to be an outright disaster for our players.

Accounting for some non-pickers, we started play at 11:00 this morning with 200 players remaining in the Womens game. Then Casey heard that Target was having a sale, and decided to take advantage of the weak dollar by rushing out of the tournament, and off to Paramus dropped two tough sets, taking out 54 players.

Adding to the blood,Tammy Tanasugarn reminded us that, outside of grass courts, there's not a whole lot cheery about her play. Buh bye, 13 players.

Not to be outdone, Ginnie Razzano lost to Timea "Baby Got Bac"-sinszky, and 7 more players got rapped out of the game. Toss in two Oudin (but props to Beau and Kandi for picking her), and one Gorgeous Goerges (same to Matteo), and here we stand, after the first round, with 119 players remaining. Eek!

Thanks for the props. I'm not altogether too upset about being out of the pool. I think my pick of Oudin was some carryover from my patriotism at the Olympics this year. It's too bad she lost, though. I couldn't have even told you where her opponent was from had I not seen it.
    I'll miss you!

wow ... after day two, down to 120 on the men's side and 119 on the women's. think I'll keep picking safely and see if others can get caught in more upsets (mild or otherwise).

    Go Marion and Andy tomorrow!

First you say you're picking safely...then you say you have Marion?

d'oh! good pt, pt. she's a 12 seed and played well in round 1, so she's got to be safe for one more, right?

    The breakdown on today's selections:

No one true bandwagon today, instead a lot of Minicoopers.

24: Schiavone (today's top pick. Hold on tight, everyone)
21: Wozniacki (Suliso would have told you to save her for later!)
18: Srebotnik (another day of nailbiting for this group)
14: Bartoli: (as JT Continental said, "God Bless you all")
11: Azarenka (could she be the wildcard again?)
    5: Li Na....3: Na Li

Also picks for Zvonareva, Schnyder, Makarova and Paszek.

Well Skeevy is already down 2-5. Li Na lost the first set to Errani. Makarova is down to Bychkova and Paszek is down a set to Rybarikova. Have fun everyone!

Re: Womens USOSP: Picks and Results Thread

Thank God, we're guaranteed at least one more day of play, since Patty, and her 4 pickers, got through. For a while there, it was looking like the game might end today.
