Introducing The People's Republic of New Dhalgren!

The People's Republic of New Dhalgren is a huge, safe nation, notable for its burgeoning dolphin population. Its compassionate, hard-working, intelligent population of 480 million enjoy a sensible mix of personal and economic freedoms, while the political process is open and the people's right to vote held sacrosanct.

The government -- a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked morass -- concentrates mainly on Education, although the Environment and Social Equality are on the agenda. The average income tax rate is 38%, but much higher for the wealthy. A substantial private sector is dominated by the Pizza Delivery industry.

The military frequently holds bake sales to raise funds, anti-government political posters adorn every building like wallpaper, marijuana is legal in the privacy of your own home, and small businesses are gobbled up almost daily by corporate giants. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. New Dhalgren's national animal is the dolphin, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Orb.

The delegate from The People's Republic of New Dhalgren will announce Block 1 selections shortly.

For lack of new ideas, i'm using my country from the game Nation States so the intimidating dolphin flag may be familiar to a few of you.

Hehehe - I'm doing exactly the same cj

The Allied States of Luvs10s Archipelago

The Allied States of Luvs10s Archipelago is a huge, environmentally stunning nation, notable for its punitive income tax rates. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 487 million have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, the Environment, and Social Equality. The average income tax rate is 59%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising fourteen-year-old boys selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Record sales of 'child-whacking sticks' have been recorded, protests are legal but strictly supervised, people caught mistreating Luvs10s Archipelago's flag generally wind up in a great deal of pain, and truth is often impossible to tell from fiction on the evening news. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Luvs10s Archipelago's national animal is the Meerkat, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the barter system.

Best known for eating lots of clotted cream, which is why most of them hve turned into clots (SW England speak for idiots), their language involves a lot of looking a bit vacant and saying "arrrh" a lot while actually deep in thought.

Welcome one and all to the nation of NALBANDIA....

Motto: "I Love Paris (and Madrid) In the Fall".
    National Dish: A La Carte

The nation has occasional issues with the World Health Organization, but enjoys an affluent standard of living, leading to a frequent position of international neutrality. These days it is not regarded as a major force beyond it's own region but when it's status is threatened it's powerful defence can repel even superpowers.

    Weightlifting - Women's 48kg: Turkey
    Judo - Men's - 66kg: Brazil
Archery - Women's Team South Korea
Fencing - Women's Individual Foil Poland
    Swimming - Men's 100m Backstroke USA
