Thread: 2016 Olympics

    2016 Olympics

    Four on 2016 Olympics short-list

Chicago, Madrid, Tokyo and Rio de Janeiro are the cities shortlisted by the International Olympic Committee to host the 2016 Olympic Games.

I think Chicago is the most likely destination with Tokyo as a distant second choice.

Now those are some cities I can get down with.

To Rio, I say. They were just in the US and Spain not long ago.

When's the last time a South American country staged the games?

From what I've seen of Tokyo, I don't know where they'd find room for the construction.

Those guys are conservative - they will never take a gamble like that... Madrid is well prepared, but they won't get it because 2012 Olympics will be in London.

With Asia having it in 08, I think they would have a tough time giving it to Tokyo, Suliso.

South America has never hosted the Modern Olympic Games (closest was 68 in Mexico City). If they can meet the money and security questions, I'd give Rio top odds.
With Lucas Pouille at Indian Wells (2018)

Is Pedro Munoz on the committee?

Chicago is going through a whole host of scandals/issues right now that don't look like they will be resolved any time soon. Not unless a big miracle happens, I don't think the Olympics will happen come there.

I'd love to see Madrid host it...I'd be able to attend!

Rio is also very unlikely because Brazil is holding the World Cup in 2014. The two biggest sporting events back to back in the same country would be unfair...

Are you banned from the other 3 cities? Shame on you.

    I say Rio.

Edit: Didn't know about the World Cup.

Why not Portland? It was good enough for Davis Cup!

    Re: 2016 Olympics

I say Rio since South America has never hosted the Olympics, heck after hosting World Cup in 2014 they'll be ready for anything. You know how crazy World Cup can be.

I'll bet he is! That's why he picked Madrid for DC tie.

oh wait, I've never been to those other three cities

I actually meant "want" instead of "being able " ..I wouldn't really want to attend the other ones
