Re: UPDATED Women's SP Picks & Results Thread

Then there were three! Janetb out with Kuzenstova's loss, while Dollymix and Mikeal are through, although Mikeal is out of picks.

If Ivanovic wins, Salmon joins them in the final and will win the SP having a finals pick left (Safina.) If Jankovic wins, Salmon's out and Dollymix wins with a final pick available (Jankovic.)

Glad to see it worked out that I wouldn't have won even if Pennetta won. Today I would have had Jankovic as my last pick, having saved Demenetieva.

    Errr...yeah.

Forget that this is for #1...this is for the women's SP title...much more important!

Congrats to oohsalmon, the only one to make the final and have a pick! And based on Ana's history and Safina's run, I'd say oohsalmon is likely to beat the draw!

Amazingly done considering the ousters of the Williamses early, Sharapova, etc.

Congrats to Salmon for winning the SP - the only one with a pick for the finals...Safina. Can salmon beat the draw though?

I especially like how you started by picking against the #15 seed in round 1. And I wouldn't have had the guts to take Kanepi so late!

congrats to oohsalmon, winner of the 2008 Women's RG Suicide Pool.

dollymix and Mikel also reached the final, but have no players remaining to pick in that match. Salmon still has Safina, so those 3 items have been entered at the beginning of this thread.

We'll see if salmon also beats the draw ...

Well done oohsalmon. I could've still been in if I'd gone with my head and picked Ivanovic to pick Jankovic, but I made the foolish choice to follow my gut. I guess I couldn't really expect to go all the way in my first suicide pool (though it would have been nice to get past the first round on the men's side).

You did awesome, dolly! Since you and I were the only ones with a shot to beat the draw for quite a few days, I was intently watching everything you were doing, waiting with baited breath to see who you'd pick .

You're gonna make a very strong debut near the top of the overall Women's SP standings, and I look forward to seeing you back at it for Wimbledon .

    Oooh I just saw that.

No Day 13 picks thread to make it official? Probably a good thing as I'm sure I'd find a way to screw that up.

LOL, I'm a clay court specialist, I warn you.

In three tries at the Australian Open men's SP, I have never made it past Day 1.
