As a Canadian I can't help but chuckle looking at the tour rankings seeing the top ranked teenagers on both tours are now Canadian. When I was teenager and first started watching tennis we never got to see our own players at big tournaments because of the limited number of television courts in those days, and relying on American TV feed.

.@ashbar96 will be the newest member of the top 10. She has beaten Petra Kvitova 76 36 62 for the first time and is into the semis of the Miami Open and that assures her of the top 10 spot

Lots of career highs in the WTA after this tournament.

Bertens 7 (previous high of 6)
Barty 9 (11) --can't move higher even if she wins the whole thing
Kontaveit 14 (19) --still in the tournment--runner-up moves her no higher, but champion moves her to 12
    Q. Wang 16 (18)
    Andreescu 23 (24)
    Tomljanovic 39 (40)
Vondrousava 43 (50) -- only at the quarter-finals, will pass five or more players with each future win
