Screw them. 20 years from now, nobody will really care about that part, even if she might.

Great. Another favourite of mine getting dragged through the mud by tennis media and fans for being a slamless #1. I can't wait. [/gloomy]
At least Dina will have reached two GS finals to her defense.

Can anyone explain why they boycott IW and why they are not fined for this?

Well they boycott IW because of discrimination against them that occurred after Venus retired before a semifinal with Serena there early in the decade. Most of what was said about the discrimination was said by Richard though, so it's hard to know what was true and what was false. In any case, they were discriminated against because of their race there, and now they don't play the tournament. As to why they're not fined, it's because they use the loop holes in the rules to get around that. Unless the WTA gets rid of the loop hole, the sisters are going to keep boycotting the event.
Correct me if I'm wrong on any of this.
Cannonballing back to the top of the game.

Nadal, Roddick and Verdasco have received a punitive 0-pointer for withdrawing from the Dubai tournament and not attending any promotional event. Federer did some promotion so he is not penalized

But didn't Nadal withdraw due to injury? Isn't that contemplated as enough?

Azarenka is very likely to gain the top 10 after IW - she is now 92 safe points ahead of Radwanska and 94 ahead of Bartoli. Safina needs to reach the final to overtake Serena.

It seems like Radwanska is in a little slump. She'll probably get passed by either Azarenka or Bartoli.
I don't think Azarenka is a lock for top 10, though. Bartoli is playing well, so she could get to a farther round and make up the difference.
Safina will probably become number one after Miami. If she plays well, she might keep it until after the French Open.

Azarenka is playing even better. It will be a bit surprising to me if Radwanska holds on any longer. Lot of points on offer here - under certain not too fantastic scenarios she could be passed by as many as 4 players (+Wozniacki and Cornet) at the same time.
Safina has a lot to defend during the clay season. How long she stays on the top depends from how many points Serena defends in Miami and Charleston. She can't defend all of them because Charleston has been downgraded.
