I want to be a part of it...New York, NEW YORK!

....Hello and a big welcome to both new players and returnees to day 1 of the Fifth Annual United States Open Men’s Suicide Pool!
You will be making one pick
EACH DAY of the Men’s event (NOT one each round), and once you use a player, you can never use him again. There will be a “picks and results thread” posted once the day 1 threads are closed so you can check the choices you have already made.
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT YOU
FOLLOW THE POSTED SCHEDULE OF PLAY BELOW. THIS IS EVEN MORE IMPORTANT FOR THE US OPEN MEN’S EVENT, BECAUSE THE MEN’S FIRST ROUND MATCHES ARE SPREAD OVER
3 DAYS. SO, EVEN IF SOME PLAYERS FROM A CERTAIN HALF OF THE DRAW ARE PLAYING ON MONDAY, THAT DOESN’T MEAN ALL OF THE MATCH-UPS FROM THAT HALF OF THE DRAW ARE PLAYING MONDAY. BE CAREFUL.
Post your Day 1 pick by replying
IN THIS THREAD. Your pick must be in by the start of play in New York,
rain or shine, that is
Monday, August 31, 2009 at 11:00 AM New York time (east coast), 8:00 AM on the west coast. For those in Europe, London is five (5) hours later than the east coast. Don’t be late as we hate making those hard decisions, but we will. This thread will be locked at 11:00 AM EDT, so please don't wait until the last minute or you may find it locked when you hit "post".
Since the object of the game is to pick a player that you are sure is going to win on that day, should your player withdraw, he obviously cannot win his match. You do not get a substitute (lucky loser) - you have chosen a player, not a spot in the draw.
You might want to scout your player and make sure there is not a known injury or illness issue.
If you change your mind after you make your pick, and before the deadline,
please make a second post advising us of your change - PLEASE DO NOT make your change in your original post, as we often go through the posts before closing to begin the task of updating the picks and results, and we might miss a change if you edit your original pick.
(NOTE: Both Christophe and Olivier Rochus play day 1. If you choose either of them, please use his first name so we know which Rochus you have selected.)
Best of luck, and thank you for joining us!
