Sticky: Re: Tennis Players Random, Random

Iím asking for people not to toss around a stereotype about women without substantiating it. Iíd apply a very high standard on certainty on that.

And yes we can know someoneís inner thoughts,...

My main point was that people shouldn't say it without substantiating it with some serious first-hand knowledge, because it's a harmful stereotype and very often total BS. I'm still not convinced...

Sticky: Re: Talk about Rankings (TAR :))

I would love to read an informed analysis of how and how much the Big 3 have created each other, in an iron-sharpens-iron sort of way. A lot of it would have to come from their own introspection and...

We have to stop saying this about women, unless there is real evidence that it is true in a given situation. Plenty of women (and men) have balanced both. Those time commitments might not be causing...

Yeah Fed skated by that one. Not sure he has ever done or said anything gutsy. Djokovic was just a little bitter but not much. Whatever.

ATP WTA GS AusOpen 1/20-2/3 2020

Right, they often donít go to the interview room right away, unless it is super late. Could be an hour or two, sometimes more. I think it might vary by tournament - at busier tournaments, maybe they...

Re: '20 AO Day 12 OoP & Discussion

Oh really? I thought it was a composed shot but not that hard. Sasha should have made it, and he did. Thiem hit a horrible overhead to give him a chance.

    There was a ridiculous...

I highly enjoyed it. Saw the last two sets. Thiem seized his opportunities more than Zverev did. He played with more urgency and confidence. I thought Sasha might swing freely and play more loosely,...

Re: '20 AO Day 12 OoP & Discussion

My curiosity and irritation was more about the strange PR decision, which had a game-show aspect. They are motivated by PR, you know. :) He could have donated and not said a thing. Yes, announcing it...

Re: '20 AO Day 12 OoP & Discussion

Just feels weird to dangle something like that - if nothing else, from a PR point of view. It's just as much (or more) an emotional boost than an actual critical, financial one for rebuilding. Of...

Sasha gave $50,000 - his original pledge of $10,000 per match. i think that stinks. I'm sorry. You're probably right about the shrewd calculation - and he probably would have gotten a big bonus from...

Re: '20 AO Day 12 OoP & Discussion

Itís PR in that moment because itís more dramatic to tie it to winning. It makes a more specific headline, soundbite, point of reaction. Iím not saying it was PR-driven or a good decision if it was,...

Kind of weird that he stipulated winning the title. Ought to just donate his prize money. Maybe he will, as you allude. Saying ďif I winĒ is stronger PR.

I think Thiem. He should be able to power through Novak, but he needs to hold his nerve in the tight moments. Thiem beat him indoors in November in London, and has won 4 of the last 5 they have...

I think Halep would have had the edge in a third. And momentum. But Garbi just slammed her foot on the pedal in the end and went for it.
