Re: covid-19 Virus Updates and Discussion

What also helps that we have good neighbors (Estonia and Lithuania) and we can close borders fully with not so good ones (Russia and Belarus). This is not possible in Switzerland with two neighboring...

Re: covid-19 Virus Updates and Discussion

In Switzerland it's nowhere near as good. It seemed to be almost under control 2 weeks ago, but now cases are increasing again (116 yesterday).

    Re: Covid19 & Tennis

There will be a brand new WTA tournament in Prague on clay the week of August 10th. Kvitova and Pliskova are going to play there. They plan to allow spectators, but only 2,000.

    Re: Covid19 & Tennis

I've read somewhere that there is a plan of letting players choose whether to play and earn new points or not play and keep 2019 points until 2021 USO. Of course that still leaves the prize money.

Re: covid-19 Virus Updates and Discussion

You're right, it will take longer than 4 months. Albeit 12 million detected cases would likely imply 2-3 times that of undetected. Given inevitable regional variations maybe close somewhere after...

Re: covid-19 Virus Updates and Discussion

If it stays at 100k per day for 4 months you'll start approaching the heard immunity... We don't know for sure if one can't get infected again, but given that 1.1 million have recovered in US alone...

Poll: Re: Great strokes. FIRST SERVE, WTA

Why would we even discuss her serve now? At least I only considered candidates (men and women) in their prime years. I my opinion prime Serena serve is better than prime Venus serve.

Poll: Re: Great strokes. FIRST SERVE, WTA

I voted for Serena here, BUT I admit to being poorly familiar with the games of Navratilova and Mandlikova (just few short youtube videos).

    Re: Covid19 & Tennis

I don't think anyone looking for a sympathy here. We're just pointing out that Madrid will have an unusually weak field this year. There might be some skipping USO as well.

I don't think you'll find many disagreeing with you Glenn. It's just that mortality is the only easily quantifiable data at this stage.

It's very unlikely that USO semi finalists would travel to play in Madrid on clay few days later. Not because of altitude, but because no sane player is playing a week after going far in a Slam. It's...
