    Re: Tennis Coaching Merry-Go-Round

    Baghdatis is joining Svitolina's team!

I think it's a good move for her. He's a ball of sunshine, and that should help her relax. I think dating Monfils was a non-negligible part in her...

Guess what happened when I looked up Lisa Raymond's peak singles ranking? She's part of the unretirement bonanza!

She's coaching Kiick, and they're going to play a handful of doubles tournaments...

Old Zverev and Mahut are probably perfect examples of what Townsend could do. Zverev peaked at 25th. Mahut at 37th. You could also look at PH Herbert (36th). Strycova (16th) or Lisa Raymond...

Looks like she's currently ranked 82, with a career peak of 61. With some extra speed and confidence, there's no reason she can't get into the 30-50 range.

    Sticky: Re: Olympic Tennis Tokyo 7/23 - 8/2 2020

These are two different things. Federer didn't play any Davis Cup, so he'll need an exemption for that. It's different than a WC for entry. He doesn't need to play a single match.

For the men, Del Potro and Murray are the only possibilities.

Del Potro is #123, but he's the Argentine #7. (The Argentine #4 is currently #76.) He has 22 titles.

    Murray is #126, and the...

Sharapova just announced that she's committed to WTT during the Olympics. I imagine she'd still play if she happens to qualify, but maybe she wants an excuse to say "I wasn't going to play anyway."...

Re: Match of the Year 2019

I totally agree that the choice is from Wimbledon bias and recency bias. It wasn't the highest quality Wimbledon match, or big 3 match, or Federer match, or Djokovic match, or slam final, of even...

    3s are out.

Djokovic d Wawrinka, AO 2013 4th round. This is the 12-10 in the fifth match. I prefer their 2014 AO clash that Wawrinka won 9-7 in the fifth. I think it was more epic to have Stan...

    The 4s are out.

Federer d Nadal 2017 AO Final. Makes perfect sense.

Ostapenko d Halep 2017 FO Final. Told ya all the Halep RUs were contenders!

It's ridiculous. Why not compare herself to a male player with a bad reputation? I don't think she'd prefer those options.

    Dear Every Journalist,

Please ask Federer if he plans on giving his coins as allowance to his children. "If you put your toys away, you get 10 mes. If you fold your clothes, you get 8 mes."

    The 5s are listed!

It's the Sharapova d Halep FO final, and the Nadal d Thiem USO QF. Really didn't see the Nadal/Thiem match coming, but it makes sense.

Re: Match of the Year 2019

Stan definitely has to be in there. I think it'll be the 9-7 in the fifth AO QF.

Sharapova has to be in there. I think it'll be the FO Final over Halep. (All of Halep's slam RUs are contenders.)...

I started following the sport in 2004, so Rios is before my time. I assume he'd have to be near the top of the list.

From the players I'm familiar with, Nalbandian is a pretty easy #1 for me. I...

For the stage of the competition they're in, I think the actual comparison would be the earliest matches in February, in a dead rubber, which would probably be canceled.

    Re: ATP WTF London 11/10 - 11/17 2019

This week, there were at least 3 threads on Reddit pointing out Thiem giving a heartfelt compliment to another player's social media. I am firmly placing him in the category of Sweetie Pie.
