  1. Re: WTA Premier Birmingham 6/17 - 6/23 2019

Here are the American women in the top 56

    1) Stephens - 9
    2) Serena - 11
    3) Keys - 17
    4) Anisimova - 27
    5) Kenin - 30
    6) Collins - 34
    7) Riske - 49
    8) Venus - 55
  2. Re: WTA Premier Birmingham 6/17 - 6/23 2019

And while I think the odds aren't great, I still wouldn't totally rule out Venus making a run and getting that #4 singles spot. #4 is currently #27 Anisimova. A few solid results puts Venus back in...
  3. Re: WTA Premier Birmingham 6/17 - 6/23 2019

Yes, they have to already be qualified in singles or doubles. Out of 16 teams, 12 go by ranking, and 4 are chosen. Venus and Ram got a WC last year, but they had to already be playing in another...
  4. Re: WTA Premier Birmingham 6/17 - 6/23 2019

Her doubles ranking won't make any difference. A country gets 2 doubles teams. One has to be made up of players who qualified in singles. The other qualifies by ranking, OR a top 10 doubles player...

Apparently Berrettini didn't lose serve in the entire tournament, winning all 50 service games.

With Thiem pulling out next week, he has no chance at the #4 seed at Wimbledon. Anderson has a significant lead. Zverev and Tsitsipas both have a chance, but only with a title.

She's #12 in doubles, so it's more like she's going back to being a doubles specialist. I figure she can easily do that for several years, if she wants to.

Surely, you jest! The men must be at something like 22, and the women must be in the low thousands! My world is upside down!

Someone mentioned Kevin Anderson returning to the tour soon, and I wondered if the Wimbledon seeding formula might move him all the way from #8 up to #4. It turns out there's a website that...

Sabalenka is completely lost at sea. When she was winning a ton last year, Tursunov gave an interview saying he thinks she could change the game. I think he was spinning tales of double digit...

He's definitely made his surge on clay, and I doubt he has much experience on grass. I just think his game will translate to grass okay. Also, regardless of court preference, I'll never be...

I'd say the race for year end #1 is between the top 3 of Barty, Kvitova, Pliskova, and whoever wins Wimbledon.
