    Re: Let's Discuss Science

I think there were 4 Soviet (human) casualties in the 60s and 70s (over 2 incidents). I think before Gagarin went up, a few dogs died in space :(

Re: covid-19 Virus Updates and Discussion

I'd love to understand how a 1% incidence of critical cases results in a 47% death rate among resolved cases. Are they keeping "mild cases" active for weeks and weeks and not "concluding" them as...

I think by "saner" we can say "relatively pragmatic long-term thinkers." Like Bill Kristol can be a dick and some of his opinions are vile, but you can have a conversation with him without tearing...

Hirono and Duckworth are in the same spot in terms of eligibility. Both were born abroad to parents one of whom was a US citizen.

I was responding to ponchi's note on the IL seat. I would agree it's not in grave danger (although her predecessor in that seat was a one-term Republican so I guess there's a chance of a Republican...

Are there serious reasons against Tammy Duckworth besides the safety of her Senate spot for Dems? I think she'd be a fantastic choice: Solid Dem, diverse, from the Midwest, Army veteran, served in...

I'm a huge fan of rhubarb. I like the texture when it's cooked and the mild flavor when sugar is added - it's a very subtle sweet/tart flavor.

If anyone's going to try rhubarb - don't eat the...

This is all basic infrastructure, which is severely under-invested in. The US also lacks in wire and wireless communications. That's more because of oligopolies and limited regulation in that sector.
