    ITF BEACH TENNIS WORLD TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP, MOSCOW, RUSSIA
    RESULTS – 20 JULY
    Please find below Sunday’s results from the 2014 ITF Beach Tennis World Team Championship that took place in Moscow, Russia on 17-20 July. Italy, the 2012 champion, regained the title with a 2-0 victory over defending champion Brazil. A total of 24 teams took part in the third edition of the event.

    The Team Championship is a mixed competition in which nations compete against each other on a knock-out basis. Each team is comprised of two men and two women, with ties consisting of a men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles rubber.

    The Team Championship joins the individual ITF Beach Tennis World Championships as the flagship events on the ITF Beach Tennis Tour. Since the launch of the Tour in 2008, worldwide participation has continued to grow each year. The 2014 Tour will see around 200 events held in 37 countries, while 54 nations are currently represented in the ITF Beach Tennis World Rankings.

    Wimbledon champs to play doubles in Atlanta

    SOCK, POSPISIL MAKE AMERICAN DEBUT


    ATLANTA – Saturday, July 19, 2014 -- Wimbledon doubles champs American Jack Sock and Canadian Vasek Pospisil are scheduled to partner in the BB&T Atlanta Open doubles draw.

    The BB&T Atlanta Open is their second event playing doubles together after a successful debut in England. The duo defeated Mike and Bob Bryan, the 2013 Wimbledon titlists, in the Wimbledon final (7-6(5), 6-7(3), 6-4, 3-6, 7-5.

    Weekend Third Time’s the Charm

    Lleyton Hewitt is the first player to make three straight singles finals in Newport but had yet to win. His only pre-2012 appearance at the Hall of Fame Championships was in 1998, when – aged 17 – he lost in the second round. Hewitt got the better of Ivo Karlovic on Sunday, however, defeating the Croat in three close sets, 6-3, 6-7(4), 7-6(3).

    Lindsay Davenport is inducted into the Tennis Hall of Fame.

    Five new members were enshrined in the International Tennis Hall of Fame today. Most notably, former World No.1 Lindsay Davenport was inducted in the Recent Player category, and most loudly, legendary and still active coach Nick Bollettieri joined the elite club at 82. They were joined by another recent player and the first female wheelchair competitor in the Hall of Fame, the Netherlands’ Chantal Vandierendonck, Jane Brown Grimes, a USTA, WTA, and International Tennis Hall of Fame & Museum leader who spent over 35 years helping to grow the sport, and John Barrett, most famous for his BBC broadcasting role.

    $38.3 Million US Open Purse Features Record $3 Million
    for Each Singles Champion

    White Plains, N.Y., July 9, 2014 – The USTA today announced that the total purse for the 2014 US Open will increase by $4 million dollars bringing the total purse for the tournament to a record $38.3 million and an 11.7% increase over the 2013 US Open.
