Plans for the future

Rate this Entry
It's been a while since I've written one of these. But we have some changes on the horizon and I want to share the plans with all of you. Community
The biggest change will be in the software we use for our community. I'm sure most of you have heard about that, and there's a thread here that explains it if you haven't yet heard. The new community site will open to all current members following the US Open and will run alongside our forum. It will officially launch in January of 2013.

On a bit of a side note, I'm still looking for volunteers to test the new community site. If you're interested, drop me a PM.

Both PTN and TP will be coming home to TAT.

Our photo site will be relocated to The TP website will be removed and all links leading to photos within it will be redirected to TAT/t-p. This move will be made prior to the Newport tournament in early July which is our next scheduled tournament to cover.

Our content site, PTN, will be relocated and once again become the landing for PTNs homepage will once again be TAT's homepage. As with TP, the PTN site will be removed and all links leading to its articles will be redirected to the corresponding articles on TAT.

Basically we're rolling back the clock to a time when this was how it was before I moved content and photos onto their own websites.

Tennis Wiki
I've wanted a tennis wiki located at for a number of years. But I've never had the time to tackle it. I'm dreaming of a site that is all-inclusive of tennis; players, tournaments, history, rules, etc. This will be by far the largest project that I, as an individual, and we, as a community, have ever attempted. We need interested members to volunteer to take part in this project. To learn the software, to research, to post, and to help maintain it. I'd like to start moving on this sometime prior to the US Open and possibly launch it in January of 2013 as we continue to grow it. If you're interested in becoming part of the TAT Wiki-Team, let me know.

Definitely some big changes are down the road. I know a lot of you would just as soon leave things the way they are. But I believe we need to grow and do our best to keep up with the changing internet. I think we need to do what we can, to the best of our knowledge, to grow our membership and readership.

I hope we're successful. And I hope everyone will come along for the ride.

It does, huh? I'm kind of excited about it.

    I don't have any wiki-volunteers yet, though.
