Contenders:
(1)Ana Ivanovic (27-6): 2007 Wimbledon SF; 2008 W-French Open and Indian Wells. Aiming to become the first player to do the French Open-Wimbledon double since Serena Williams in 2002
(2)Venus Williams (14-7): 2000, 2001, 2005, 2007 Wimbledon W; Best grass player in the 2000s. If a player does not beat Venus before the QF, she will be tougher to beat as she will be in a rhythm.
(3)Maria Sharapova (30-3): 2004 Wimbledon W; 2008 W Australian Open, Amelia Island, Doha Her level has dipped since the Australian Open in January but she has made the semifinals or better 10 times(3 Slams) since the beginning of Wimbledon in 2004.
(4)Serena Williams (25-3): 2002-2003 Wimbledon W; 2008 W-Charleston, Key Biscayne, Bangalore. Other than 2005 and 2007 AO wins, she has not made it past the QF in a Slam since she made the finals at Wimbledon in 2004 losing to Maria Sharapova
(5)Jelena Jankovic (33-10): 2006, 2007 Wimbledon R16; 2008 W-Rome. She has made the quarterfinals in all 11 events played and she is playing fewer tournaments so far. Will she bounce back after losing a tough 3 set match to Ana Ivanovic at the French Open?
(6)Dinara Safina (27-12): 2005, 2006 Wimbledon R32; 2008 W Berlin. Will she continue her good play at Wimbledon since the run to the title in Berlin and the final at the French Open?
(7)Svetlana Kuznetsova (26-10): 2003, 2005, 2007 Wimbledon QF. Last final she won, without retirement, was at Beijing in 2006 where she defeated Amelie Mauresmo.
(8)Elena Dementieva (29-9): 2006 Wimbledon QF; 2008 W Dubai. Think her last chance to win a Slam was a few weeks ago at the French Open but she ran into a hot Dinara Safina in the QF.
(9)Vera Zvonareva (36-10): 2003, 2004 Wimbledon R16; 2008 W Prague. 2008 wins leader and she has made it to 4 finals so far beating Azarenka in Prague. She lost in 3 sets to Serena in Charleston and Sharapova in Doha. Other final lost was because she had to w/d due to injury in Hobart against Eleni Daniilidou.
(10) Agniezka Radwanska (36-11): 2006 Wimbledon R16; 2008 W Eastbourne, Istanbul, and Pattaya City. She is known to pull a shocker beating Maria Sharapova at 2007 United States Open and Svetlana Kuznetsova at 2008 Australian Open in 3rd round.

Floaters:
Victoria Azarenka (23-12): 2007 Wimbledon R32.
Anna Chakvetadze (17-12): 2006, 2007 Wimbledon R32; 2008 W Paris
Lindsay Davenport (21-4): 1999 Wimbledon W; 2008 W Auckland and Memphis.
Na Li (16-5): 2006 Wimbledon QF: 2008 W Gold Coast.

Nicole Vaidisova (13-11): 2007 Wimbledon QF
Caroline Wozniacki (22-10): 2007 Wimbledon R64

I agree that Na Li could be dangerous if she's healthy. Same with Davenport
