How are these villages around here?
There are the small ones that are obviously one or two families, together with some animals that belong to them, and which are just located in the plains. You can reach them through a small road or can only be seen in the distance, banned for us because there are no cleared roads to reach them. The local drivers find us silly because the roads that the dwellers use are obviously cleared by the users themselves. But rules are rules and we can only see them ...

The plains here are sparse of population, but that does not mean there are no people here. There are small villages all around, little hamlets that are really one or two families dwelling together. There are a few roads that are paved, and then there are the many locally treaded and driven dirt tracks that crisscross the region.

At the entrance I was given a 10 days visa with a clear stamp saying that I had to report to the authorities before that expiration date. So in a few days I am asked to join our group and go to the town of Kalar, some 40 minutes away from camp, to apply for an extension of my visa.
We drive there, together with the inevitable middle man. It is now customary for these things to happen, as all of these countries make the procedure so difficult that only a native will be able to understand how ...
