  1. A Day In CA: My Dream Blog

    A Day in CA
I am jarred awake by the insistent groan of my vibrating cell phone alarm. Ninja reflexes honed by the desire to respect my obliging landlords get quiet restored in a split second. I slip out of my sleeping bag and yank the cold chain leading to my light bulb. I pull on some gym shorts and a well-used T-shirt, grab shoes and my backpack, and open the sliding doors of the walk-in closet that has become my bedroom. I sneak down the stairs and out the front door, where the California ...

  2. Bad news for them. Good news for me!

So I recently found out that I have a better chance at making the team this year than I thought. Last year only ONE guy graduated, and I know that we have at least one freshman coming who is amazing (he dominated a pretty good player on our team this summer at an Open tournament something like 1 and 2). I figured that I probably wouldn't have a much of a chance of making the Spring cut, but that I would make it past Fall tryouts and have a fun few months on the team.

  3. Tournament 4 - Summer Training

I had another good tournament last weekend. I played another 3.5 in Vancouver, WA. My arm felt a lot better this time. I think I will be able to serve normally very soon. It's SO exciting.

My first match was really low quality. I was exhausted after last weekend, and hadn't hit a ball in five days. I used the first match as a warm up, basically, and was owned 2 and 1. My serve was all over the place. The guy I played said after the match that my groundstrokes were really impressive, ...

  4. Days 17-whatever - Summer Training

    It's been awhile!

Since my last blog, I've played in three tournaments.

    Tournament One:
I'm serving underhand the whole time, which turns out to be WAY more of a detriment than I expected. I basically suck it up in my first match, and lose 2 and 3 to some old guy who likes to chip and come to the net, making my underhand serve perfect for him. Then I get to play a consolation match. This one went a lot better. I lose the first set 6-2, but then I wake up and ...

  5. Days 6-16 - Summer Training

    It's been a while! Anywhoo.

The tennis has been going pretty well. I've been hitting a good amount. The diet has been up and down. I've been eating a lot of fruit and a lot of "lean cuisine" type things. I recently ate out a lot because my birthday was a few days ago.

The dumb scale says I haven't lost any weight yet. I'm not too worried, though, because I've felt super bloated this last week. It actually says I gained a few pounds, but that my BF% has stayed ...
