    Bierfest in Albania is a nationwide holiday.
    A small brewery called ELBAR sets up tents and tables and benches around the country and in all towns people sit down to wolf down lousy beer and eat unhealthy food. In Fier, Tirana, Gjirokaster and Durress, the people are getting ready to say goodbye to the warm days of summer and during the days from August 21st to the end of the month, debauchery Albanian style takes a hold of the nation.

  3. Am I even a fan of tennis anymore?

    This sort of broadly speaks to why I feel I have been becoming less of a tennis fan lately.


    It's impossible to see any of it except for clip packages after the fact. I have to literally wade through seedy websites to find streaming feeds that are likely trying to give my computer STDs the whole way.


    I don't really want to pay yet another monthly subscription fee to be able to see any matches.

    Then there is always another side.
    When you have a town where there are not movie theaters or discos or anything alike, entertainment has to come from inventiveness. I am at a restaurant once and I see a table where a family is enjoying dinner while playing cards. It surprises me that both younger children, not young but not yet teenagers, are playing with their parents as opposed to the expected American, Techno European mode, which would be glued to their smartphones.

  5. Serena vs Steffi

    Serena Williams and Steffi Graf have been the dominant forces in tennis for the last three decades. Their careers barely overlapped in the late nineties, when Graf was on her way out and Serena was arriving. Their H2H record stands at 3-2, Serena, which is as close as it can be when you only play 5 matches.
    Serena is still playing and currently trying to tie Margaret Courtís Grand Slam record. Graf, of course, is completely retired, so much so that she does not even partake in post-career ...
