This year, as opposed to previous editions of this contest, we're not excluding any categories. That's right: everything from Best Picture to Best Shot of a Hamster in a Bermuda Shirt. You have until February 24 to post your complete list of picks for the envelope, so if it's too much to do in one go, just edit your post later on, but DO remember to get 'm all in!

You can find the complete list of categories right here: http://forum.talkabouttennis.com/showthread.php?t=9292

Good luck!!! :overhead_clap:

I thought it was interesting how we seem not to biting on the Julie Christie bait, shtexas. For the last month or so, it seemed everyone wanted to give her the Oscar outright. It seems like it has become more of a contest in the last few days, and that is showing here with our picks

Subtlety is not Oscar's specialty. Cotillard's part screams Oscar and Ellen Page was handed some terrific lines that stick (not to mention she handled them beautifully).

If I were voting, I'd take Christie though.

I notice more people picking The Counterfeiters for Best Foreign Film. I fully admit I haven't seen any of the nominees. I just read the synopses of all of them and it seemed the best choice for Oscar material. The Russian film sounds the most interesting to me, not to mention the only one I remember that doesn't deal with a WWII-era plot.

I meant to mention this earlier and didn't...but watching World News Tonight, and seeing their pick for "Person Of The Week", reminded me.

In animation...sure, "Ratatouille" is an overwhelming fave (and a very good film). But I'm surprised no one gambled on "Persepolis". I discussed it a little while back in the film thread, I came away very impressed after seeing it. And while I think "Ratatouille" will win, I won't be the least bit surprised if "Persepolis" sneaks away with the upset.

I think Persepolis will win for political reasons.

JJ, 12 is by the director of Burnt by the Sun, so you probably wouldn't like it.

Well I didn't totally hate Burnt by the Sun. I just wasn't a fan of the floating orbs. I watched it a second time and warmed to it a little more (I had a similar experience with American Beauty). The little girl who played Nadya was really amazing.

She is his daughter (the director/main character). She's in her 20s now. He took her to the Oscars in 94 and took her up with him to accept it. Despite his huge huge huge ego, his kids seem to have grown up ok.
