I have a fairly fair good game for myself even though being a newbie I could certainly use improvement. What I need to work on the most is my hand eye coronation, most of the time when I go out and play a game...I miss the ball and end up hitting nothing but air...and since I have pretty good arm strength I could end up hitting the ball but not in the right direction so I could end up going chasing after it or making the person I am playing against to do so. If there are any ways I can avoid do this kind of thing I would love to try them out and see if I can improve my game...as much as possible and just move on...to improve myself more
Thank you for listening.

Is there a practice wall near you? It's the best way to get better fast. You can work on the same shot over and over and it always comes back. This'll help you develop rhythm and hand-eye coordination as well. It's how I learned to play tennis, actually.

I was a hockey goalie for ten years. What I did to improve hand-eye coordination was to sit in front of a wall and throw a tennis ball at the wall and catch it, over and over and over again.
It really worked.

Yeah, I hate to be repetitive, but...repetition.

Co-sign. That's basically how I learned as well. It vastly improved my hand-eye coordination as well.
Nothing like hitting against the wall for a few hours on end ;)

Yeah there is a practice wall near and I love going out and using it the only problem is the area it located in...its actually in a fairly nice park. But the park is well known gay activity among older men and young soccer players, as well as there have been records of drug busts at the place so no one likes to be out there for too long by the them selves and I have no other tennis friends in the area.

Sounds like a lot of balls are flying on you, as well. Since you said you had pretty good arm strength, I'm guessing you're giving it a pretty good whack. You might try to lay off some of the pace a little bit until more of your balls are landing in the court rather than the neighbor's court, which will help you get a feel for how hard you can hit it and still get the desired angle.

The wall is your best practice partner! The ball always comes back, unless you miss hitting the wall.;)

And, unlike Liezel Huber, it's never mean to you when you hit it with the ball.

Ditto... Same here... the only thing the wall doesn't help with is the serve... Good Luck!

Also, some more minor things:
- Are you looking at the ball?
- Are you pointing with your other arm at the ball, before hitting a FH?
- Do you keep looking at the point of impact, while keeping your head/chin low, after you hit the ball, rather then looking where you want it to land? They say you should hear if the ball hits the net, rather then see it...
- Foot work. I think this is even more important since it allows you to get in position in time to hit a good shot....
