how are the rankings calculated?

how are the rankings calculated?

This time it was different for the men than it was for the women because we only picked one first round match with the women. In the men, we picked two.

You get 200 points for beating the draw, 140 for making the final but not beating the draw, and from there it's broken down by each correct daily pick... 90, 70, 50, 40, 30, 23, 15, 11, 7, and 4. And everyone gets 1 point just for playing.

For the women, it was a little different because of the rain early in the tournament.

Hope that helps!

wow...had no idea I'd be so high! And #1 and #2 have a lot of points to defend at wimby (I have some, just not as much.)

Thanks for updating these so quickly

Now I can cheer if everyone loses at day 1 of wimby, because it'd make me #1 :)

Does this mean I get an easier start at wimby due to my seeding?

Garsh, nor did I have any idea I'd be so high. A premium is really put on the last rounds, and I'm not in any mood to complain about that.

This all makes me feel way better about Joachim Johansson's toe. Now on to improve upon my Vliegening at last year's Wimbledon.

And with my luck, my seeding will draw me a Karlovic in the opening round. And I fear I may be a clay court specialist. :)

Yup...at least I'm like Rafa (have had some success on other surfaces!)

:yahoo: Thanks, Dry.

Wow. I thought I'd probably move up from 4th, but never dreamed I'd get to number 1. This is cool! Maybe next time I get this close, I'll actually pick the winner and get a ribbon.

I guess holding on to #2 spot has some virtue - like Federer losing in the final , maybe? (looks pleadingly at screen). Thanks to all those great folks at TAT who take the time to organise this, and do it with so much patience and good humour, especially Dryrunguy, Moose and Kirkus. On to Wimbledon where, as Ptmcmahon so cruelly observes, I have a lot of points to defend. On guard!

I wasn't planning to see my name here. After 4 slams, I still haven't made it out of the suicide pool first round with the men. I'm on a Spadea-esque losing streak.

My Top 10 ranking is on an EXTREMELY thin thread.....

Didn't play the US Open Pool last year with being in NYC on vacation, and this year I'm gonna be in NYC TWICE on vacation.....

Well, I am feelin' so pathetic about this, but as we speak I just started sweet-talkin' the hubby, about bringing the laptop to NYC.....'Cause I sure ain't feelin' real confident about defending those Wimbledon points.

GREAT job Winston BTW- I at least was able to beat ya ONCE in these pools.....

*sheesh* I've played all 4 Slams that count in the rankings, and I'm not top 50.

Next time I invent a game, I'm making up rules that give bonus points to left handed Serb lovers with carnivores as part of their screen name.

:thanks: I remember that Nelslus - so you did. I also remember you were the first person to welcome me to TAT. Good luck at Wimbledon.

Congrats and well done, Winston!

(even if I hate you a little for taking over my favorite spot. You and Julien Benneteau)

How about next time I take Benneteau and you take Dulko for me. Or Tati. Or.... (I don't think I've ever made it past day 3 in the women's SP.)

Umm, yeah, no thanks ;)

I don't know... I thought Benneteau was a really risky pick. He had a great Roland Garros last year (which was the first warning sign) and had done nothing since... He was one of the first people I crossed off the list...

The biggest crime of this Roland Garros (other than Alona Bondarenko) was seeing Oscar Hernandez lose and all the people he took down with him. It was a very intelligent pick, yet, a lot of people got screwed.

Of course, I think I only made it through Day 2, so what the hell do I know...
