View Full Version : Womens Day 11(Thur/SF) PICK Womens RGSP

Hello and welcome to Day 11. A whole boatload of us have made it to the Semifinals of the Womens French Open Suicide Pool (thank the rain, and the failure of any huge surprises to sneak into the late rounds for that!).

Today's pick is from one of the two womens semi-final matches. Hopefully, you've saved the players that you see going into the finals and winning this year's French.

REMEMBER to check your previous picks in our "Updated Picks and Results" Thread. Everyone would have used at least one of the players in the semifinals (mathematically, you have to had used someone)...so don't allow yourself to be eliminated by making a duplicate pick.

INFORMATION ON TIEBREAK: Anyone who remians alive for the final will have a chance to win our RG Prize Package. Since we'll likely have a number of players battling to beat the draw, we're going to have three(3) tiebreaks to determine the prize winner. you'll be making your tiebreak selection by sending me a PM after your post your final pick (you MUST make a final pick on Friday if you are still alive, even if you only have one player remaining). The tiebreak will be 1) number of games played in the ladies final, 2) Total points won by the winner of the Ladies final, and 3) Number of winners for the winner of the womens final (an example: in the Justine/Serena 1/4final, the total number of games was 19, Justine won a total of 61 points, and Justine had 7 winners). Obviously there will be a big difference if you think the match goes 2 or 3 sets.

your Day 11 Pick is due no later than start of play on Thursday, June 7 - 2:00 Paris Time - that's 8:00 a.m. in the US East Coast, and 5:00 a.m. on the West Coast.

Good luck everybody!

[b]Ana Ivanovic (SRB)[7] vs. Maria Sharapova (RUS)[2]
Justine Henin (BEL)[1] vs. Jelena Jankovic (SRB)[4]

Thankfully, I don't really have a choice

Ana Ivanovic

surprisingly, I think this (and the final) are the easiest picks for me to make, since it is what I have had in mind since the draw was released. And, since, I see this whole thing playing out slightly different (probably) than most everyone else.

Everyone that knows me here at TAT knows how I've been praying for an All-Serb final in a Tier 3, then 2, then 1 for almost a year now. And here we are at the praecipice of that happening. All it takes is two more wins.

So I'm hanging true to my RacquetBracket selections made back before the first ball went into play at the French.

My SF pick: JELENA JANKOVIC

Sh! a rap ova the knuckles and a kick in ma rear tells me that I should go against the current grain, not leap on the bandwagon and go my own way down the primrose path of dalliance, so I pick:

MARIA SHARAPOVA!

I'm glad Maria made such a good run here but I'm hoping it's over. Make way for Serbian cutie and my pick, Ana Ivanovic.

Meanwhile, I will cross my fingers and hope JJ takes JH down.

awesome, mocam! After over a thousand picks between all of our players since Day 1 of the RGSP, you're the first person to use her. And we have our first day when every remaining player in the draw is in the mix.

Unfortunately, this is the end of the road for me (just like in the men's SP for the Australian Open). I have only one choice left (thanks first to Patty Schnyder and secondly to Svetlana Kuznetsova!). So my pick is Justine Henin.

On clay, she may be a self-proclaimed "cow on ice," but the lady is also proving those cow legs have remarkable staying power. I want Ana to win, but (after mulling it over far too much) my pick is Maria Sharapova, and I'll be happy if I'm wrong (and I'll be happy for different reasons if I'm not, as I'll still be holding Henin for the final if Justine makes it past Jelena).

I'll take Ivanovic. I really don't like doing this and I honestly thinK Maria will win but... If I'm going to win the suicide pool this is probably the best way.

I'd really like to pick Sharapova because I want to see her get demolished by JH in the final, but something tells me (and I made up my mind even before booted up and saw the b-wagon) that I should go with Anna. So there it is, please put me down for

Ivanovic

Good luck to everyone! Whatever happens today, the SP has been a blast!

Maria or Ana? I seriously don't know, and since I haven't been able to choose between the two, I won't pick either. Yes, I am a big chicken. :p Besides, if Jelena beats Justine, I'm out of the SP anyway. So, instead of agonizing between the two, I'll go with Justine. If she wins, I know that at least I'm guaranteed a pick for the final (where I'll pray for a miracle, LOL).

So, yeah, my pick is...

Justine Henin

Sadly had to use my proposed winner now, in this my last pick, as no one gave Ms. Kusnetsova's daughter the Heimlich.

When in doubt, go to the betting lines. Despite the consensus of Ana's bandwagon in this thread, Maria's actually favored (it's about 3:2, FYI) for this match. So I'll pick Maria.

Ana Ivanovic is my pick.

This is my exact situation. First pool, can't beat the draw, but still would like to see Jankovic take out Henin. That's my pick.
