Thank you, Jelena. I'm very happy she won, and will be even happier if Justine or Serena easily trouches her in the next round, to keep my hopes of picking an eventual winner from this side of the draw alive. Cruel sport, and an even crueler pool.

Ana was pretty impressive, and I think I'll be betting on Jelena's compatriot to get me to the final day of play (that is, if things also play out right for me on the other side of the draw).

I think we share the same strategy. Actually, at this point, I think a lot of us have the same picks coming up.

if you noticed that some, but not all of the thread has been updated, there's a good reason. Due to the popularity of our game, I've been getting some big time assist from our friend and fellow TATer Beaujarkko...and I'm trying to teach him how we do all the parts of running the game. We'll have the middle section of the Updated Picks/Results taken care of shortly.

good for Jelena, sadly she has to lose now against Henin.
Now all I need is for Ivanovic to beat Sharapova, which has unexpectedly reached semis

how many of us are there left?

Umm, why is why name missing from that list? I'm pretty sure I'm still alive.

Sorry, SBTang! I fixed it.

We do this all by hand, and sometimes we make a mistake, especially when we update the picks and results. Thank you for pointing it out.

Urgh. Sorry about the tardiness in updating my section of the thread... I got called into work, which I think I'm more excited about than Serena losing. Ugh again. Anyhow, the middle section will be updated momentarily. Thanks for your patience.

Also, statistically, we lost 13 today:

8 from Chakvetadze
3 from Kuznetsova
2 from Williams (ugh) ;)

This leaves us with a startling 55 remaining players. Wow.

'tis nothing to feel bad about BJ. Without your help, it would probably be tomorrow til the whole thing got updated.

Hope everyone will join me in thanking BeauJarkko for his much appreciated assist on the Women's SP this time around.

This is rough, and maybe not exact, but going in to the semifinals:

1. Nobody has used Henin.

2. 36 have used Jankovic.

3. 9 people have used both Sharapova and Ivanovic, which means they cannot beat the draw.

4. 19 people have used Sharapova, but not Ivanovic.

5. 8 have used Ivanovic, but not Sharapova.

6. 15 have not used Ivanovic or Sharapova.

I second that sentiment!! Hasn't this SP had a record number of entrants? That's a whole lotta people to keep up with and I'm quite impressed with the fact that so many are still left leading up to the finals weekend. Well done everyone!

I'm not sure WHAT to do now. I was going to go with Ana, but then Maria won, and she seems pretty determined to keep going, too.

I could go with Henin (I think she'll make it three in a row) to assure a place on finals day, but I'll probably go for broke and pick Maria, no Ana, no Maria. Almost wish I'd picked one of them earlier, so I don't have to choose between them now. I'd like to see Ana make it, but I can't disregard Maria's fighting spirit and the two slams she already has under her belt, so I'll probably end up going with her. Then again. . .

Wow, very interesting stats Moose. Thanks!

I'm a little surprised to see so many people who can still beat the draw. Let's hope all goes according to my plan...which is probably everyone's plan...and then we'll have a record number of winners too. :)

Yikes! Everyone else has a plan?

I guess I do too, in a way, but I always seem to change it at the last minute. My original plan was to pick Venus in 2R over Harkleroad, but when it came time to make the pick I figured she'd go far in the draw if she beat Jankovic, so I didn't want to use her. (Thankfully I made a similar change when my plan was to pick Bondarenko, so I'm still here to talk about this stuff.)

Hooray for Ana!

Nice to see so many newbies enjoying the SP, AND doing really well! And yes, all TAT volunteers work very hard on these fun pools and contests, blah, blah, blah.

I tried to lighten the load by losing in the first round on both sides, so I hope they appreciate what I do for THEM. :D

we're updated through the semi-finals...with 31 players remaining. The rain eliminating one round of picks, and the progression of the draw conforming with seeding moreso than most Slams has resulted in a record number of people going into the finals.

29 players have saved Justine for the final

and 2 brave souls (and who earned my respect and appreciation) have saved the lovely Ana I.

Please consult the details on the tiebreak, as you will be making that choice, along with your final selection tomorrow. Everyone that beats the draw will get a medal....but 1 person will get our 2007 FOSP prize package

Glad to see 29 made the final and have Henin. If I hadn't lost with Dulko that would've been 30 (the rest of my picks won). Great showing by Ivanovic today but Henin looked super strong...can't see her losing.

the details are in the Day 11 pick opening thread, zephblabs. It'll be 1) total games in the final...2) total number of points for the winner of the match and 3) total number of winners by the winner of the match. I have an example from Serena/Justine in the thread.
