View Full Version : MENS DAY 4 PICK: RGSP

Welcome to Day 4 (Thursday) of the French Open Suicide Pool. We're finally on schedule, and hopefully we've had our last full days of rainouts.

PLEASE NOTE: Wawrinka/Ljubici is a scheduled match for Day 4, but it is a carryover match that was scheduled, but not started for Day 3. Because it is a "top of the draw" match, and was an available choice for Day 3, YOU CANNOT choose this match for your day 4 match!

Day 4 features 16 matches from the BOTTOM half of the Mens draw.

Remember, once you have selected a player, you cannot use them again. Be sure to consult the Picks and choices thread to make sure your choice is not one you used before (a duplicate choice results in your elimination).

Your choices are due by the start of play on Thursday, May 30, 11:00 a.m. Paris Time (5:00 a.m. USA Eastern Time, 2:00 a.m. US West Coast time).

Good luck, everyone!

Jarko Nieminen is the logical choice here. But if he doesn't deliver there won't be many left in this SP...

To be Kristian about it, Marcos has it in the bag for the next couple of rounds or so, but it will be a plessure to go with him now, so my pick is:

MARCOS BAGHDATIS!

Wow, the men's game is virtually impossible. We've been decimated, and only had to pick from this (killer) side once! There'll be no-one left if Nieminen "has issues"!

He's the obvious pick, but I'm trying to avoid bandwagons, so (continuing a mini-trend on this page), I'm picking:

Guillermo Garcia-Lopez

(and like the rest, I'm not happy about it. This game is difficult enough without me making it worse for myself!)

Sanity may hit me later, so I might change my mind!

Wow. I see why this is called Suicide Pool. This is brutal. Yes, Nieminen seems like the perfect choice, but if Almagro and Stepanek taught us anything today...

So instead of the perfect choice, I will make life hard on myself and pick...

Albert Montanes

I must not like picking two relatively easy picks in a row.

I'm freaking out about going with Albert Montanes, but the other guy is a kid from Latvia. Experience should count for something here.

Jeez I honestly don't know who to pick today. I am not going to jump on the bandwagon for Nieminen or Baghdatis and that does not leave me any options.

Can't believe I'm making this pick but... my pick for day 4 of the French Open Suicide Pool is going to be Ivo Karlovic

Novel choice, but against Bjorkman, maybe so.

I almost picked him last round against Blake and wish I had. I almost picked Andreev too but went, instead, for the "safer" choice of Calleri.

But we had a great party last night in the Loser's Lounge.

I've been thinking this over, settling on one person, deleting it, settling on another, deleting it, when finally I realised that the bandwagon is probably there for a reason.

I worry for all these Montanes pickers... Gulbis slaughtered Henman, who, while not a true dirtballer per se, was a semifinalist at RG.

Now that I'm done caveating, I pick P-H Mathieu against my better judgement. He may be around a while more, but I'm not gonna have the cajones to pick him later.

ON SECOND THOUGHT:

Please change my pick to Ferrer. I just researched Gilles Simon a little more, and got justifiably scared.

The clock strikes eleven, meaning play is underway and the SP picks threads are closed! Good luck to all of you - there's a couple of gutsy picks in there ;)
