Here is an alphabetical listing of all our players and their picks. This becomes important as the pool progresses because you cannot choose the same player twice. It is a handy list to double-check yourself. If I got any of your names/picks wrong, drop me a pm.

I promise to update this thread later today. I am in a bit of a jam at work. I know some players are out now and I know there were a large number of "no picks" for Tuesday - about 20-22 out of the 221 who started the game.

If I can be of any assistance shtexas, let me know. I just took the rest of the week off. However, I would need instructions.

Thanks for the offer Catz. But, I'm working on it now.

Thanks everyone for their patience. Or Patience seeing today's choices.

Looks like I have a lot of no picks for today and we lost a lot of people.

I'll be back in a bit to update. (I have to figure out who won today. Am I even still in?)

I am doing the update in two stages. First, getting the people who lost with their first picks or with a no pick for day 2 out. Then, I will "red" day 2 losers.

We started with 221 players (a record).

Unfortunately, we lost 26, who failed to make a pick for today (some would have lost day 1 anyway), leaving us with 195.

Of those, we now have 118 who made it to day 3 (Wednesday).

Benneteau was the big reason for the day 1 losses.

Many losses were the reason for day 2, whether it be Hrbaty, Calleri, Henman, Johansson, and to a lesser extent, Soderling.

Just to update you, from the conclusion of the suspended matches yesterday, we lost 4 more people (Gabashvili (2), Ginepri and Berdych) leaving us with 114.

Obviously, with Safin's loss, that is all about to change.

Well, Almagro lost too... Between Almagro, Safin, Chela, and Gasquet, that's 21 who're down, and Stepanek is lookin' hard up in the fourth, we'll see how he does in the 5th... He could really up the total carnage. ;)

Mr. Hingis is firmly planted on my DNP list. Someone would have to hold a gun to my head.

Oh wait, I'm one of those who went out on day 2... What the hell do I know?

The way this year's SP is going, Stepanek will usher in 20-some contestants. The players themselves seem hard-pressed to allow any of us to get past week 1.

Update after Wednesday's carnage:

We started the day with 114 players.

We lost two who failed to make a pick for today, bringing us to 112.

Then came Almagro, Stepanek, and to a lesser extent, Safin and Gasquet, plus a few Chela's and we ended today with:

69

Thank goodness for Robredo and Ferrero!

The "R.O.L.A.I.D.S. Spells Relief Award of the Day" goes to Redclaw, who initially chose Almagro but last night changed his pick to Robredo.

You're tellin me, Shtexas! I'm feeling clairvoyant... Of course, tonight, I got tired and lazy and didn't even research my womans pick at all. Ah well, I need sleep...

My mens pick (David Ferrer) is more of a "I really want to get to the next round, oh dang" pick than anything else...
I can't expect to beat you experienced suicide pooling TAT folks, but I'm hoping to outlast over at TW.

Hmmm...looking ahead, looks tricky for anyone who has taken Moya and Baghdatis already like me. They're the only seeds left in their eighth, so at some point we're going to have to take an unseeded player in 1/16 or later!

Other than that one pick, I've now got the rest of my players picked out until an upset changes it, or I lose!

I always like these posts to know who to root against and how hard. Today's picks:

Hewitt: 17
Baghdatis: 11
Moya: 11
Hernandez: 8
Ferrer: 6
Nieminen: 2
Djokovic: 2
Andreev: 1
Mathieu: 1

Not to jinx it or anything (esp. with my pick having won the first in a breaker), but yesterday had to be one of the cleanest SP days in history, right? We're guaranteed to lose at least three today, though.

shtexas

Update with two matches still hanging (although Hewitt looks fine):

We ended yesterday with 60 players. One failed to make a pick for today.

So, we started the day with 59.

We lost 8 when Hernandez lost, and 1 when Mathieu lost.

We have 50 with the Hewitt and Ferrer pickers still in play.

ptmcmahon
06-02-2007, 11:37 AM
2 more out with Hewitt's win.

Ferrer is struggling...and to think the only reason I didn't take him was because I was worried he might upset Djokovic.

I am not looking forward to having to take Andreev or Bjorkman next round (or later.)

oohsalmon
06-02-2007, 11:48 AM
So glad I switched from Hernandez to Baghdatis. Not only does that keeps me alive, it keeps me from ever being tempted to use Baghdatis again, a restraint which I'm pretty sure won't hurt.

shtexas
06-02-2007, 12:09 PM
Thanks for reminding me pt! I forgot there were a few on the other side of the Hewitt match.

Things looking bad for Ferrer at the moment.

And, yes, oohsalmon, you also get a "R.O.L.A.I.D.S. spells relief award-of-the-day" for your smart move in abandoning Hernandez before it was too late.

OK -

Less 6 who chose Ferrer = 42

Ferrer knocks out 6, and Niemenen 2. That brings us to 42 as we enter Sunday. We are doomed to be fewer Monday, as there are picks on both side of every match except Federer/Youzhny.

I guess everyone expects Mikhail to make the finals...
