who's in if we do one?

We can actually set it up on CBS Sportsline, or a number of other sites, and that way people only have to enter thier picks, the site will score it for us.

If you want to be in, reply to this thread.

What do you mean by setting it up on another board? We'd go there to make picks and then someone would collect the scores and post them here?

You know me... I'm a contest junkie. Of course, with the Buckeyes in the mix, I don't have a prayer of winning. But I'd play.

When does it start?

Dry:
since you have to pick through a 65 team draw, a number of sports sites have things set up that you can run your game on their site. They provide the draw for you to pick through, and score it through every match. It would be a lot easier than us having to type out all our selections. And we can post the scores here, as well as have al ink to where our pools are being stored.

I'm certainly in... ever since I predicted Texas Tech's run to the sweet 16 and Louisville's Final Four spot (almost won some money that year) in '05, I make sure to register.

So has anyone made a decision re: where we should go to do this? And when does the tournament start? For some reason I'm thinking Friday?

Starts Thursday, Dry. I'll get things set up while I'm having morning coffee in a couple of minutes.

I've got a group set, but I am having trouble getting a sample registered unless I send an email to everyone. I'll work on it at lunch....

Sebs, if you see this, maybe you know what I can't figure out with CBS Sportsline.

If it can be worked out, then I can be convinced to play!

I'll give it a try too!

Moose

okay, need someone to try this:

go here:

http://www.sportsline.com/login?xurl=http://tat01.mayhem.sportsline.com/

you have to complete a brief registration with CBS Sportsline (if you don't allready have one), then let me know if you got into the TAT Pool, and were able to make your selections.

I just sent you an invite...I think it requires me to send an email to invite you to play.

It gives the same error to me - any chance of an invite?

Moose

check your PM, wycombe

Moose

apparently, you have to have an invitation to play the NCAA game. If you have a junk email address, send it to me as a PM, and I'll send you an invitation.

Moose

There's about 3 1/23 hours left to join and get your picks in. To join us, send me a PM with an email address I can use to send you an invite to our group.

I can't believe Ziti for Brains here couldn't resist the temptation to pick the Buckeyes to win the whole thing... Haven't I suffered enough?

Yeah, it's tough to be a Buckeye fan ::)

Buck up little camper, BCS championship game in football, #1 seed in the Big Dance ...

It's GREAT to be a Buckeye!

6 of us are in the NCAA pool...and on day 1, Scotty went 16-16. That's incredible.

Scotty: 16
Wycombe: 12
Jiggy: 12
Shtexas: 12
Moose: 11
Dry: 9

wycombe7

Well played Scotty - that's a fantastic start.

I read somewhere that the odds of getting all results correct are around 16 billion to 1 - and you've still got a chance!

Moose
03-17-2007, 08:04 AM
Scotty takes a hit on the 2nd half of first round play, while Shtexas makes a surge forward. After the first round (all one point games):

Scotty: 27
Shtexas: 26
Jiggy: 23
Moose: 23
Wycombe: 21
Dryrunguy: 21

2nd roud games are worth 2 points, so nows a chance for someone to take the lead...or for Scotty to build on it, with today's games.

Moose
03-19-2007, 03:07 PM
Scotty's lead holds after the completion of the first two rounds...but things change after that!

Scotty: 51
Moose: 45
Dry: 43
Shtexas: 42
Wycombe: 41
Jiggy: 35 (Jiggy, did you take your alma mater to win the whole thing?)

No I did not Moose. I believe I had them going three rounds. Not very smart

Scotty's tips for success in this pool:

#1 - pick a subject you know little about
#2 - spend a total of 30 seconds making your picks

evidently I should employ this strategy in tennis predictions, and I'd be doing better. Instead, I waste time and accuracy by thinkging about things like: is she still injured? is he any good on this surface? what's their H2H record? does she dress well?

We'll see if I can use these techniques more successfully in Miami. In the meantime, I think I'll amend my signature to immortalize my glorious all-time-low-score of 2 for the women at Indian Wells.

as we reach the final four there's movement in the standings....but Scotty continues to hold onto his lead:

Scotty: 78
DryRunGuy: 73
Shtexas: 72
Wycombe: 68
Moose: 65
MrJiggyFly2: 61

Even though Scotty's got the lead, theres still room for anone to win as we get to the finals. Everyone still has their overall winner in the final 4. Scotty and ShTexas have UCLA, Dry has Ohio State, Wycombe has Georgetown, and Jiggy and I have Florida.

dryrunguy

I think we've now reached the point where you just have to have everything left correct, or your screwed... There isn't ANY wiggle room.

Final scores are in. Dry held on to enough of a lead to take the title, even without having the winner. Moose and Jiggy both called Florida as the champion, but lost too many points in the earlier rounds.

Dryrunguy: 83
Moose: 80
Scotty: 78
Jiggy: 76
Shtexas: 72
Wycombe: 68

Congrats, Dry. Looks like yu've got prediction games down pat this season.

Nice job Dry.
I was a total non factor by showing too much allegiance to my alma mater.

Yippie! I'm still awfully proud of my guys, even though they didn't win. But in many respects, they were lucky to get as far as they did.

Thanks!
