Catz33 sent me a PM - Catz is out of town for a few days, but wanted to participate, and sent selections, so I'll be posting them.

Catz33 Day 1 pick is Meghann Shaughnessy

OK - cue up Shaughnessy for SkanCan. She's lost three first round slam matches in a row, and that just cannot continue!

Yeah, but she's only lost in the first round at Wimby once in six appearances (2003) and she made the third round last year.

And this is Schruff's first main draw Wimbledon match.

I think its a good one. Im saving her though. Grass seems to be the only surface she wins on. She knocked out Venus despite the contraversy and Venus' lagging performance. She did pretty good. No one's saying anything about her because she sucks on everything else but I can see her doing damage to the top players again. Good luck to Karolina I like her and wish she would do better on all the surfaces.

Tami has made the 4th round of Wimbledon 6 out of the last 7 years. Grass is her best surface. While she has not done well ono other surfaces lately, she did not badly in the grass court tune-up.

Sprem may very well beat Tami, as she herself has gone to QF at Wimbledon, but I wouldn't say it's a gimmee.

I still say Sprem is a brave pick out of this encounter.

Exactly. I can't imagine Shaughnessy losing to this opponent, but if Shaughnessy has lost her game I'll be hoisting Molsen Golden in the LL tomorrow night.

well, shaughnessy is not bad but she's faced some upsets in 1st round before. I know her history.....

so I preferred not to pick her.

Meghann survived a three setter, phew!
But one of us was not so lucky.

well shaughnessy sometimes disappoints me. last year, she exited in the first round in USO.

she tends to be very unpredictable.
