Here's where we keep the running tally of your selections, and your survival skills. Also a good place to check to make sure you haven't allready used a player you're picking in another round.

Selections will all be posted here daily. And your color will change if/when your pick goes down.

As they say, "Once you're blue, you're through, Babaloo".

LMAO. I picked ginepri-rochus and rochus is playing first. if rochus loses, the result of ginepri match doesn't even matter to me.

another Suicide Pool first here. Day 2 players destroying your Day 1 picks. I love this game!

oh, and Dry has added a new "Slam Suicide Pool For Dummies" chapter. Following Chapter 1 "Do NOT bet against Rika" comes Chapter 2, "Do Not Pick Men Whose Last Name Begins With "H". Hrbaty and Hanescu have been "H"omicide to his game.

hahaha Dry's humor is just amusing at times. maybe I should create one of those "suicide pool for dummies" ::)

as for chap 2, it would have been a counterexample if he picked Haas in day 1.

I only saw part of it.

but Tracy Austin said that's really a cheap and dirty way to win.

I don't exactly know what djokovic had done. taking an injury time-out seems perfectly fine to me.

sportfan92

Not when youre tired. Thats for when youre hurt. Women have the 3 set rule. Women have certain issues that i think justifies a bathroom/locker room break. What I dont understand is if he was feeling the heat couldnt he receive treatment for dehydration or heat exhaustion.

(BTW- Just heard Andy puked on court. Uh oh. I hope he wins. Dont know if he retired though.)

ouch hope roddick gets better b/c he doesn't want to ruin his chance against a decent opponent.

and btw, I didn't know that the reason djokovic called the trainer was b/c he was tired.

it's one of the biggest concerns for the players nowadays.....it breaks up a player's momentum and concentration. it's a controversial issue.....

I can't take any side......I believe that a player should be given opportunity to finish the match whether it's delayed by calling trainer or not. but then it's also unjust for the opponent at the same time.

saw almost the entire monfils match and the injury time outs seemed legit and gael wasn't bothered ...

if you can't handle an opponent's injury time out then you should quit the tour and go home to Momma!

I was talking about Murray, sorry. Heres a pic, Dont look if you have a chain reaction issue.
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y275/Betsmoyo/andymurraypuke.jpg

Serves me right for listening to Tracy about Djokovic. She has a very shrill voice. My little brother was reading when i was watching tennis. So i turned down the volume so he could read out loud (hes 8 so he still does that sometimes) I found it to be surprisingly better. No more dull headaches in the back of my head.

On a similar note JIM IS BACK!!!!! He is awesome, perfect balance. Hes unbiased and honest. Not to mention he is my favorite!!! The mop top redhead!

No surprise about Andy Murray hurling all over the court. Guess he picked Hanescu for the suicide pool too and just found out.

Moose, I'm right about the H thing. I'm just sure of it. But had I been smart, I would have consulted the dog. So it's partially my fault.

And with Mirza and Sugiyama struggling, that could be another 3. That would leave only the Hantuchova pikcers.

well, the good news is that we will be crowning a new king/queen of our Suicide Pool game. All our prevous winners (Peterskan, Spiceman and Catz33) are out after three days on both sides.
The bad news is that after 3 days (and actually, only 2 on the mens side), we are down to 8 players on the womens side, and 9 on the mens side - we've lost over 50% of our players.
This game is always so much harder than you think it should be.

really? FLos pretty good on fast surfaces too. Not as good as rafa. But Rafa has an unusual confidence no matter where he is, yet still humble. Anywho, Flo lost. Im really really waiting for James! I wanna see James' match not another shutout agasint Sesil!
well feliciano can play well on all surfaces.

but I've noticed that he can be inconsistent at times. so I went with the more obvious pick.

Berdych going against Mello, a clay court specialist.

going into Day 8 we still have three (and most likely 4) contestants in the Women's Draw, with Dry, Bets and Jon D-oh! thorugh, and Brad waiting on Miss Kimmie to crush her opponent.
Don't know that we have ever gotten to the 2nd week with this many players still alive.
Well done, everybody.

..and you should indeed ,Dry :P

I was enjoying Nicole tearing Petrova apart only to see her steadily self-destruct after leading 5-2 in the 1st.

That didn't get the day started well. Only Lleyton beating Dent made up for it,but only in part. :-/

Today's pick was a bet on experience. No doubt, I got lucky.

And for the record, it was nice to see Dent hang tough in a 5-setter. I wasn't expecting that at all. He lost, but he showed something he hadn't before, and that's always nice to see.

well, on our Womens side, Dry can get through the semis by picking Clijsters (his only selection left), but cannot beat the draw, as he has used up the other three ladies in earlier picks. He'd have to hope that Jon-D'oh loses on day 12 in order to win the title.

Hey, Moose. Check out my little diatribe in the "Women's Day 10" thread. Shinobu Asagoe let me down when she lost to Schnyder. She was supposed to beat Schnyder (knocking out Jon D-oh) and then beat Dementieva.

But of course, Jon D-oh gets the last laugh--on me! :)

One of these days we'll all wake up and realize that Dementieva has the best serve in women's tennis. Hell, if no one can return it, then it must be pretty darned good, eh?

Maybe Clijsters should schedule a sidearm-slicer tutoring session with Dementieva?

:)

Elena's first serve has improved slightly - but that 2nd serve is disgusting. It goes to the same spot every time. Combine that with the fact that she gives away three games through double faults a match (12 again last night), and you got to wonder how this girl survives early rounds, let alone gets to semis of a Slam

Well, I've got to take a bit of an issue here.

The first serve has improved, no doubt about it. It's still not fantastic, that's for sure, but at least it's a legitimate motion, and it possesses the opportunity to improve and strengthen with time.

The problem is that her first serve, as it is now, is really quite average. Had that EXACT same serve came from ANYONE else on the tour, Davenport would have handled it and punished it. It lands right in the zone for her. But she has ALWAYS had this "block" where Dementieva and her serve are concerned. Yes, she won their last four meetings and completely dusted Dementieva at the YEC last year (most recent meeting), but when you look at their H2H over the long haul, in its entirety, Dementieva has always bothered Davenport.

As for the second serve, thank God I don't play tennis because I can't even imagine trying to return the damn thing. The slice is the most wicked I have ever seen, and many times, it not only slices but stays very low. It's kind of like a heavily top-spun curve ball guided by Satan himself. Throw THAT at Barry Bonds and see how many homers he hits.

Many fans post away like it's the most clockable shot in tennis. And they say that because of the abyssmal mph on it. But to me, it just doesn't look that simple. And if you take a good swipe at it, you might hurt someone in Jersey City.

And bets is right about Dementieva's compensating qualities. She's a TREMENDOUS athlete, arguably even a better striker than Davenport, extremely explosive, an exceptional defender. There is NO other weakness in her game.

And thus, she'll stay in the top 5 next week.
