Do think your fantasy tennis teams could win YCWJ?
Do your category A picks manage to find ways to lose their first round matches?
Do the players you pick perform like military machines? Like say, Tanks?
Then this is the contest for you, where you get points if your team loses:
"The Greatest Loser"

This year, the contest will consist of 7 weeks of ATP tournaments, starting with the week of Sept 17 and ending the week of October 29. The tournaments will be played in Europe and Asia, with Masters 1000 events in Shanghai (10/7) and Paris (10/29).

Teams

Your team must consist of 12 ATP players from the top 100 men on the ATP Tour. Your initial team may not be the same as a team that has already been posted, or it will be disqualified. We'll do our best to help monitor this. However, the responsibility of adhering to the requirements of this rule falls solely in the hands of the contest participant.

The current top 100 players on the ATP tour are divided into 4 categories. You must select three (3) players from each category.

You will enter your teams in the thread named "The Greatest Loser 2017: Post your team HERE"

To enter the contest, you must submit your team BEFORE the first tournament for week 1 begins. We will post the entry deadline as the tournament start times for week 1 become known..

Categories:

CATEGORY A: Players 1-15
CATEGORY B: Players 16-40
CATEGORY C: Players 41-70
CATEGORY D: Players 71-100

Each player on your team will only be awarded points if they play. However, you will lose points for each match that they win. The team you choose is supposed to last you the entire contest, except for the trades you can make.

See the following post in this thread for players and categories.

Prices

We don't need no stinking prices. Pick whoever you think is going to lose. Just follow the constraints on each category for your team.

Scoring

The amount of points won by each player on your team will vary, depending on when (if?) they lose, and the relative importance of the tournament.

Your weekly score is the total of the score for each player on your team for that week. We will post results in the thread named "The Greatest Loser 2018: Scoreboard"

Trades

If you feel that any player on your team is dead weight (winning too many matches), injured, or you just don't want them on your team anymore, you are allowed to trade her for someone else whom you feel is more adequate to fulfill your team's job (lose, of course. )

You are allowed up to SIX (6) trades during the seven-week contest.

Trades should be made for a week BEFORE the first tournament for that week begins. We will post trade deadlines as the tournaments approach. Any trades made after that deadline will apply to the following week.
You will enter your teams in the thread named "The Greatest Loser 2018: Post your trades HERE"

What you can win

Bright, shiny virtual medals, worth up to $0.00000001 on the open market, are awarded to the first place, second place and third place finishers. You can collect lots of medals in these contests, which will show up in your profile, and impress your fellow posters on this board. That's about it.

General

You must NEVER have MORE than 3 players from any category on your team at any one time.

The responsibility of finding out who will be playing in which events rests solely on your shoulders. The team you have at the start of each week is the team you're playing with for that week

You are responsible for keeping track of how many trades you have made. Please don't make a seventh (or eighth, etc.) illegal trade.

Should your team stumble and actually start winning matches, or if you just want to complain or have a drink to drown your sorrows, feel free to do so in the Losers Lounge.

Keep in mind that these tournaments are being played in Europe and Asia, so the deadlines may be at odd hours for those of us in the Western Hemisphere.

Your team must be posted before the scheduled start of main draw play in for any tournament beginning Monday, Sept 17, 2018, which is a week of European tournaments.

If you have any questions regarding anything in the contest, please post then in this thread.

I hope you enter a team and take part in the contest. Good luck!

* We will use the rankings that come out the day after the end of the U. S. Open, on September 10. The rankings/categories should be posted by 12:00 (noon) U.S. Eastern time.
