We already have some losers on the women's side, including me.

9 Vikhlyvantsevas, a couple of Rybarikovas, and a Brady (someone out there is thinking up new evil lyrics for "Here's the story of a _______ lady ..."

That'll teach me to pick against someone whose last memorable result was singing the National Anthem here at BJKNTC.

My men's pick is also down a set & a break. STELLAR start for me ...

Here with the 30 or so RBA pickers, with the absolute rock solid plan of picking a top 20 player against one of the reciprocal WC, who before his win today had exactly 1 tour level win.

double-cheeked on Day 1. I'm almost proud of how bad that is.

I was searching and searching for the "You're out, Brenda. You are out!" clip from A League of Their Own, but this one will have to sum up my feelings instead:

I guess Muller only comes up big when he's got a big scalp to take down.

I felt really good about picking Edmund in the men's pool so of course he lost, and nervous about picking Gavrilova in the women's pool and of course she double bageled her opponent. :p

I picked Halep to win the tournament and Radwanska to win Day 1 in this pool. Oh well, in tennis, like in life, I obviously no nothing about women.

Put a lot of thought into picking Buzarnescu, especially since I have barely heard of her.

She withdrew, so I will as well when it's my turn to buy a round here in the Loser's Lounge. Put it on her tab.

Haase literally rescued my day after I bowed out with another Romanian: Niculescu.

And the Dutchman did it by coming back from 2 sets down

Visiting my mom. Made breakfast on Monday for everyone, done with the dishes. I looked at the oven clock, and the terrible realization that it was past 11 am E.T. hit me. I meant to put myself in here the second that sinking feeling was confirmed by the evil oven, and invite DH motobass to pull up to the bar with me to face Day 1 with NO PICK! :hammerself::hammerself::hammerself: Anyhow, drinks all around, and best of luck to those who still have a pick in the tournament.

No doubt I'll be here soon... But for now I marvel at having survived three picks in both pools for the first time this year.

Saying nothing hasn't allowed me to win before so perhaps a bit of whining will make the difference :cheesy:

What made me think a woman who doesn't lift her feet to serve would be marching into the second week? How about whiskey sour for my sweet Caroline (Garcia)?

The "6" in front of her name fooled a lot of us.

was just laughing with my (rookie to the Pool) sister about the "rules" including "no Frenchies". Then, sleepy before bed, I picked Pouille.

and here I am.

your best, no, moderately priced champagne, please.

You know? It was the right pick. A player that made the finals last year against a player that shows issues on hard courts, who would in the next round face that player that owns him, and of course, a lot of people were thinking the same and....
Nah, it still sucks. Big time.
Another year of futility goes by. See you all at the Aussie!
Wine, please.

I need to stop expecting good things from Svitolina.

See, Thiem I can live with. I chose Anderson by far using my mind vs. my gut. I never felt good about picking Anderson. (Then again, could any of us feel good about any of our choices with these decks of clowns?) H2H record and all, from admittedly the little I'd seen of the two, Thiem has impressed me more with his energy vs. Anderson just playing tired and mopey, and with precious few aces. Kevin has not shown anything since Wimbledon, and clearly had nothing left to give. Very obviously, Thiem has shown even less since his French Open final, but strangely enough, he has shown that he can win matches at the other Slams when he's barely won matches before a Slam. ON this much smaller-scale expectation level, Thiem is a Slam "big match" player. AND, he clearly came in with a plan against Kevin, and Kevin never made any adjustments. Hey, I'm also a minor fan of Thiem.

Plus, Thiem has an 0.000000000000000000000001% chance of beating Rafa vs. Kevin's 0.00+ to infinity %. So, there's that.

HOWEVER- getting bumped because of Svitolina really makes my teeth grind. I don't know if I'm more pissed off at her vs. me. HOW many times will it take for me to stop listening to a few tennis pundits and a few of you TAT Svitolina-apologist monsters to get, Svitolina is useless, pointless, and the most pathetic player to ever to make the world Top 10, perhaps short of Jimmy Arias?

SO, no point to offering me a Loser's Lounge cocktail. I'm clearly satisfied with drinking down my own bile. :cheesy:

Great, I manage to avoid the whole Anderson/Raonic massacre, only to crash out to the ultra-safe-no-way-on-earth-he-is-going-to-lose-this-one pick that was Federer.
