Did your losers start winning? Want to wallow in their success? Here's your go-to stop!

A pick tracker will be up after the start of main draw play, and scoreboards will be up after each round.

A pick tracker has been posted here: http://www.talkabouttennis.com/contests/ycwj/2018-US-Open-YCWJ-Pick-Tracker.htm. Please check your picks and let me know if anything is wrong.

Well, drat. Picked the wrong Roumanian to lose today. (Should've pegged Halep instead of Begu.)

After the first round, ktothem1 and ptmcmahon are on top, each scoring a perfect 20. Omegadoom and jazzyg are on their heels with 18. After a dip at Wimbledon, we're back to our high-scoring ways.

Tog, the scoreboard link doesn't seem to be working. Thanks.

Even if link was working, if it was showing me with 20 there is probably still something wrong ;)

I do this so often. I thought of picking the opponent of P. Herbert, as my first pick. So what did I do? I wrote in P. Herbert, not the opponent.
Like my mom tells me, I don't have a brain anymore, I have a sponge.

Sorry about the scoreboard. It should now work, and the pick tracker should also be updated (though keep in mind a white won means the player has not played yet).

Due to my perpetual lack of success at this game, I decided to try a totally different strategy: I picked a total slate of competitors made up only of players playing seeded players in the first round. I tried to pick such that an upset of the seeded player in the 2nd round at least looked possible. My hope was to have a really good first round, thereby guaranteeing me my first top 30 finish in a while. Still, only 6 of my picks lost in the first round, but I am feeling good about top 30, since there are only 32 entered. I have 16 points after round 1 and a guarantee of at least 20 after round 2, since my number 1 women's thread already lost in round 2. Historically, 20 points keeps one well out of the cellar.

Sometimes it works to set your goals really low. But for far too long, my "goal" of top 30 was not rewarded, even though there were usually about 34 entrants. Is that pathetic or what??

Weirdly, I think this is my favorite contest...I love pulling really hard for a player to win in one round, only to pull just as hard for him or her to lose the next.

Jazzyg didn't lose a pick in the second round, and now stands alone at the top of the leaderboard with 36. Behind them is first-round co-leader ktothem1 with 34, then sokoll with 31. At the other end of the scoreboard, everyone still has a pick, and there's a chance our wooden spoon winner will make it into double digits.

I didn't think I was doing anywhere near as well as that. I almost couldn't find my name.

Looks like Jazz is in the driver's seat in this contest - maintaining 7 picks through the first two rounds is tricky.

I just got a little more hopeful! C'mon Ostapenko!

Yeah!! My goal of top 30 is realized. After round 3, there are enough of you poor, unfortunate souls below me with no picks remaining that top 30 is guaranteed. Next tournament I'm going to shoot for the stars....top 25. GH

Ktothem1 leapfrogged back over jazzyg in round 3 to take back first place by a point. Tenedab had the best score of the round to jump to only two off the lead. The first contestants have run out of picks, but the wooden spoon for the contest is not yet decided.

And now I'm down to one. That was brutal watching Garcia and Bertens lose in third-set tiebreaks when they were heavily favored to win, and then Isner took down Raonic in a five-set toss-up match today. Luck has not been on my side in the last two days.

Dang, I wasn't really even watching Jazzyg. We are both down to the same #1 women's pick and I'm behind in points. No path to victory :(

Not to mention Omegadoom with a reasonable path to both wooden spoons!

And now I'm down to none after Vondrousova was up a set and 2-0, loses the second set 7-5 despite winning more points in the set to Tsurenko and then goes away in the third set.

At least this time I kind of expected Tsurenko to win when the match started. The others were a series of heartbreakers when I fully expected my player to win.

I feel hexed in this contest after getting two of my men's wooden spoon picks into the final of the Australian Open but not winning due to the outstanding picking of several others, including one person who was a double wooden spoon winner.

The fourth round was a bloodbath :axe:. Now there are only seven picks remaining total, and no contestant has more than one of them. Those in the best position after the round are tenedab, who is now tied with pickless ktothem1 for the lead with 45, and Omegadoom, who still has one of his 4-point picks remaining. Tolulops also still has a decent shot, and ktothem1 and ponchi101 aren't mathematically eliminated yet, though they will need wins from both Millman and Tsurenko in the next round.

Sadly, our last holdout didn't make it into the double digits. BHar11 is the wooden spoon winner for the 2018 US Open YCWJ contest.

[SIZE=3][FONT=Franklin Gothic Medium]The fourth round was a bloodbath :axe:.

It was painful to watch all three of my remaining picks win. Losing only two of them would have put me in the running. But, NO.

After almost all of the remaining picks won in the fourth round, none did so in the quarterfinals. That eliminates ktothem1 and ponchi101 from medal contention. Let's now take a look at what the remaining contenders need to happen to win.

Tolulops needs Keys to lose in the women's final and someone other than Nadal to lose in the men's final.

Tenedab needs someone other than Keys to lose in the women's final and Del Potro to beat Nadal and/or Nishikori to lose in the men's final.

Barring both of those outcomes, Omegadoom will be our champion.

Congratulations, tenedab! After all of the remaining contenders lost their picks, the leader before the start of the semifinals has locked up the victory. Ponchi101 can still make it up to 46, one behind tenedab in a tie for second, but cannot overtake the leader.

Ponchi holds the only remaining pick, Amanda Anisimova, who will be the women's wooden spoon winner if Serena wins the title. If Osaka wins, it'll be Katerina Kozlova. On the men's side, Sam Querrey will be the ultimate loser if Djokovic wins and Marco Cecchinato if del Potro takes the title.

Congrats, tenedab.

I was so angry after all my picks lost excruciatingly close matches that I never bothered coming back here until now. Surprised to see I still finished as high as fourth, three points out of the lead.
