Leo Mayer hasn't quite lost to Struff yet, but he clearly paced himself for best of 3 instead of best of 5, so I'll go ahead and order empanadas for me and my poolmates. (And yes, I knew it was a daft pick to begin with, but everything else looked either equally dodgy or two rounds too soon.)

well I'm on this boat too. I guess I'll be much more relaxed now, no wait I still need to lose on the girls side ... :(
I think with the weather we have, a little bottle of Rosť to finish my day would be perfect.
Thanks.

I knew Krunic would choke early, but this was just rude.

Thank you for the reverse jinx, ponchi101! Thinking about having a Chicago-style polish to celebrate Aga's win. (Sure I will be drowning my sorrows soon enough.)

After being up a set and a break, Krunic decides to lose to BRENGLE of all people! Come on, lady! Brengle was meant to be easy fodder!

So are you saying you got reverse Brengled? That is tough. Those break leads seem to be more precarious than they should be.

I'd like to pour all the world's borscht down your sink s a protest against Elina Svitolina's sad existence, is this allowed in this establishment?

Ana Konjuh is probably the worst pick I've made in 15 years of survival pools.

Three shots of Malort because I deserve to suffer.

I mean, it was a solid pick. The #7 player in the world, against an opponent that really is on his way out, on a first round because it is his worst surface but still, youth against aged injuries, a strong player against a physically doubtful rival...
Who am I kidding? That was one boneheaded pick
Don't even bring me a drink because I do not deserve one. Water. And that is generous.

GlennHarman and I spoke on the phone this afternoon.

GlennHarman and I discussed tennis, our pools, and YCWJ.

I told GlennHarman who would be my Day 3 picks.

GlennHarman picked different people for Day 3.

GlennHarman is smart!

Just saw that Kanepi lost too. Not a particularly strong performance by me this time around. I will have 8 carlsbergs and go watch the world cup.

I didn't survive week 1 in either competition. Merci & thank you Pouille et Madison. A shot of JD and 2 bottles of Heineken for me please. I too will be watching WC.

I know... This is a messed up bracket. Hope nobody picked Pliskova because it looks like she is going down.

I don't know how Venus lost that final set. Bertens looked bad at the end but Venus made so many errors at the net. Not characteristic of her. 26/44 at the net is not good on grass.

Why is it feeling like the women just want to hand the trophy to Serena? I mean, Kvitova, Wozniacki, Muguruza, Keys, looking like Pliskova, all out. Venus out but at least she fought for it. The bottom half is nuts!

I am so glad to be out of the women's pool. I just looked at the choices for Day 6 and want absolutely nothing to do with that red hot mess. Good riddance!

With the exception of the matches in which Serena is involved, every match in the WTA is 50%.
And before I get shredded. It is not that the level is bad. The contrary: the level in the WTA is as high as ever. Just that every player is at the same height. It will be a decade of players winning, at most, three slams in their careers.
Except, of course, Serena. 24, here it comes.

Yep, the ladies do like to make this interesting for us. But I should have realized I was about to exit as my worry was not that Keys might lose but that she might win the whole tournament and I was picking her too soon. Oh well, its Friday and I am sure it's five o'clock somewhere.

Ah, cruel fate. Wrote in Simon first, but then my inner saboteur replaced him with Fognini. Good luck to the remaining 2 or so players!
