What to do? What to do?

I have already taken Kuznetsova. I refuse to touch Granville-Ruano-Pascual...too tricky! I have never heard of Vesnina or Savchuk, so let's avoid that too.

I need another round to sort out Petrova(She's finally won a title after all)-Williams(She's got the psychologically edge or the nearby Russians)-Sharapova(lost to the eventual winners at all 4 grand slams last year)

Who does that leave? I am going to gamble on Henin-Hardenne beating Davenport down the road.

My Day 5 pick is...Lindsay Davenport(!)

This is exactly what I thought, 'cept that I haven't used Sveta yet ;) On the other hand, she's prone to stabbing you in the back any time. But since I might have used Serena too early (and i'm hoping she loses some time soon...) I have to ride her.

My pick: Svetlana Kuznetsova.

Pls don't let me down! I'm feeling pretty good for my day 6 pick now that pierce lost 8-) although if by some miracle hingis loses today it would get pretty lonely out here.

If Martina Hingis pulls through for me then my day 5 pick is: Nadia Petrova

I thought about picking Lindsay and taking the safe road, but I love Petrova and I am in this game to win it so I want to save Lindsay for later.

Since Martina has easily won the first set, Svetlana Kuznetsova for me. I can't see her winning against Davenport, but she's in a good form again.

Thank you Schiavone! Now, what to do, what to do. It's difficult for me to pick her beyond this round, so I am going with Nadia Petrova.

very cool to see our new players realizing how important stratgy becomes after you survive the early goings. It's tough deciding whether to pick favorites, or going with matches that might be a shaky pick, though it saves you favorites for later in the game.

This is getting tougher, I'll save some of the big names and go with......

My Day Five pick:

My other rationale behind choosing Davenport is that I am assuming Petrova wins her next match, and then plays her fourth round match against an unseeded player so I can take her then...I can't see her beating the winner of Sharapova-Williams...but if I'm wrong I might run out of picks around the semis...

Lrakotom here doing some serious secong guessing: I picked Ruano pascal earlier but I cannot forgive myself if she tanks so I want Serena Williams now. Is it too late to switch ?
thanks

No, lrak, you can make switches. We just ask that you do it as a new post, rather than modifying your old one - it makes it easier for us Commissioners to keep track of any late changes.

Thanks a lot, It's Serena Williams for me then, final answer. Isn't it weird that I put more thought into this that my current project at work ? actually, don't answer that

Well, shoot, I guess I am out then... Newborn baby has colic so the days kind of bleed together -- fun game, though!

yeah, we have to keep it fair to everyone. Hope your baby is feeling better.

Please come back and join us for the French. We also play "practice" pools for Indian Wells and Miami, though they aren't official Suicide pools.

She'll probably lose, so I'll take this opportunity to say it's been fun playing.
