Congratulations to the 36 players who made the UPDATED Men's Picks & Results thread! Day 8 definitely put a dent on whatever plans you had in place regarding where to go from here and will likely force some unexpected improvisation. Good luck with that!

Looks like I'm the only one who has used Chung, so if I survive today, then I'll be the only one picking Sandgren, most likely.

One of the two actually. There might be few who pick him by choice.

I'm curious, Megan... Why didn't you take Berdych yesterday? You hadn't used him. Or did you avoid him just because he's, well, Tomas Berdych, aka, certified unreliable nutcase?

Don't know what Megan thought, but I have a bad feeling about Berdych...

I'm going to run out of picks. Lol I blame the fact Im not used to surviving the first round. But after 8 years I finally got a chance to pick Rafa!!!!!!

Because you said to do something stupid!

It's fun to take a risk in Suicide Pools. I play SPs like I play tennis. I'm pretty aggressive and like to try fun shots at the right time. I wasn't really avoiding Berdych, although maybe a little bit. This was the type of pick I'm drawn to. It was gutsy and likely to pay big dividends if it worked out, and I thought Chung could do it. I'm not a great analyst of matchups, but Nole isn't 100%, and Chung is full of confidence right now, has a lot of momentum. And the fourth round isn't as intimidating as a quarterfinal or semi, when Chung might tighten up. It was lucky, for sure.

Thiem was supposed to win and then beat Chung in the big-occasion match. I'm not counting out Sandgren, though.

Also, I wanted the option of picking Berdych over Fed if they play each other and I'm still in it. Not sure I would pick him, but I saw the value in preserving that option if possible.

Wow. When was the last time a men's SP was won before the semis? Go Cilic!

Yeah, if Nadal loses, we have a winner. This is fun to watch! (Well, unless you picked Thiem or Dimitrov.)

After tonight's stupid Dimitrov loss (piled on previous weird eliminations), I'm almost resigned to NEVER winning that pretty AO trophy. But doubtless I'll be back next year pursuing that quixotic quest (sigh). As for Baby Fed (now Infant Fed), he's now on my " do not ever pick except perhaps in 1st or 2nd round" list. See you at RG.

And wishing and hoping for a 6th RF Australian title this weekend. Which will redeem everything and make this World a truly beautiful and wonderful place indeed!

"... a truly beautiful and wonderful place indeed" At least for a while. Congrats to this year's One Single Winner (if Cilic wins tonight OR he or she survives tomorrow and the Universe does not turn inside-out on Day 11).

We have a winner. Picking Kyle Edumund in a QF just won someone a SP! Congrats AlanG!

Who'd have thought we'd have a Brit that wasn't Andy Murray into the semis? Congrats on surviving a wacky draw!

It's possible still that the men's and women's will be decided one match after the other.

Seriously well done Alan! Congrats on pulling out the win in a seriously unpredictable SP.

Wow! Thanks. I had already used Dimitrov and Cilic, and would have been stuck next round if I had chosen Nadal in this one. I thought Edmund stood a chance, but didn't expect the Nadal loss!

Well, you still have picks left, though it looks like you can't beat the draw if you have used both Cilic and Edmund. How would you like to proceed, AlanG? Do you want to keep making picks and see how far you get? I am happy to accommodate that.

Thanks! Sure, I'll keep going. Yeah, I was counting on Nadal beating Cilic, then would pick Nadal over Edmund!! I definitely didn't expect Nadal to lose. Happy to make another pick today for the bottom half just to see how far I could go. This has been fun. Thanks for organizing. -Alan

Congrats AlanG on being the sole survivor!!! A job well done

...and I really thought the women's pool would be over before the men's.
