This is where you engage in weeping and gnashing of teeth--and gloat about how your picks are doing so great, until you end up here.

Enjoy!

Ugh, already out of the menís side by a 5 set, but lopsided score line. I think this is the first time PEHK has let me down in an early round.

Had no idea this band was German.

Double-cheeked on Day 1! I believe this might be a first for me... so that's something I guess. Thanks for nothing, "safe" picks Isner and Peng

Double suicide by a pair of qualifiers, my picks were seeded too.

I decided last year to avoid qualifiers at all costs. They're always on at least a 3-match win streak!

For those interested, I run a small non-profit sports blog discussing a variety of different sports....tennis included.

Check out the Australian Open preview blog post including predictions: http://goo.gl/5rdp4h

Would love to hear your thoughts and predictions as well given the great knowledge of the sport on this site :)

That Isner loss really surprised me. I don't think poor Peng is healthy. I actually picked against her in my bracket when she was only against "qualifier."

I'm pretty sure Blinkova knocked me out of a pool last year when she won a match she wasn't supposed to win.

The woman who beat Peng is actually 15 years old. First player born in 2002 to play in a GS.

She appears to have an older sister who plays, but I am pretty sure it is the 15-year old in the Women's draw.

Meanwhile, Steve J. has knocked me out on the men's side, so yeah: well done Mr. Kudla :p

Not only is she 15, but also last year's AO junior champion (at 14!). I think it's risky to pick against someone like that without a solid top 20 player on the other side.

I'm a little late for the Losers Lounge, I got lost trying to find my way through the Australian Open website design. Could I please have a placemat, and I'll draw out the brackets on one tidy page for everybody.

And a flat German Pils to toast my buddy Kohlschreiber.

Sonego is the one who beat Tomic in the last round of qualifiers so I figured best to stay away from him even if I've never heard of him before this week.

Like all of the players except for Roger, Rafa and Serena, they're all good, except when they aren't. Arbitrary, random and irritating.

Allllllllllllllllllllllllllrighty then...If my pick (Kasatkina), 2nd option (Pavlyuchenkova) and 3rd option (Bencic) all lose and I refuse to pick fellow Dutchy Bertens (though that, to me, is still very logical considering her past year) then I'm the kind of loser this lounge is named after/for :p

Well...I avoided the womens' bandwagons today...which in several cases was good, but Suarez-Navarro, who hasn't done much the past year, did hold it together and beat Babos. So I'm out on the WTA side.

I was not going to be able to make a pick on Thursday, as I will be traveling. So I contacted a dear friend here and told him I would mail my pick before hand. Because, you know, I was certainly going to be alive by then.
And then I picked Kasatkina.
Serves me well. Hubris, it kills me.

I was second-guessing my Kanepi pick when I saw that Suarez Navarro's hair was looking really good, since that's gotta be a confidence builder. Oh well - of my other three potential picks (Kumkhum, Allertova and Bondarenko), only one would have worked out.

Good luck to all, Belinda Bencic let me down on the ladies side and life on the men's side. Crazy day and just missed the deadline to make my last men's pick. Oh well, I would have won, LOL, see you again for the next suicide pool.

Might as well reserve a table in here now.

Don't get me wrong, a fully expect to survive another day, picking Nadal for Round 4 [Day 7], notwithstanding that Rafa has been looking awesome. And, of course, the logical thing is to go with Ciclic. On the other hand, there's that whole band wagon thing, so if it goes down I'll be among a few survivors. And if not, I have the chance of Cilic over Nadal [not totally inconceivable], or Kyrios to rely on.

Sure, it's riskier, but isn't that why it's called a suicide pool?

Oh yeah - is the corner booth still available?

It's not going to solve your challenge of having already used the losing finalist, but the notion of Chung beating the current iteration of Novak Djokovic is not completely out of the question.

That said, your reservation has been noted. :cheesy:

Watching from the Losers' Lounge. ESPN's coverage is like: "here's a riveting second set of the highest quality between Nadal and Schwartzman. So let's cut over to these other matches, put them up on the screen side by side with full audio from both courts and have four commentators confirm that the Nadal match is much better. Now back to the Nadal match. Psyche! We're going t split screen again with a different inferior match. And repeat."
