Here's the place to talk about the contest! A pick tracker will be posted after main draw play begins, and will in the best case be updated daily. Scoreboards will be posted after each round concludes.

One of my picks' opponent withdrew, and got replaced by a lucky loser. This is the first time this has happened to me. Thankfully it was only a number 4 pick.

Thirty-two entrants......I'm hoping my goal of a top 30 finish is realistic (sometimes it isn't, even with these odds). GH

The pick tracker has been updated to include day 1 results. Remember that an orange "WON" signifies that your pick has won in the previous round, whereas a white "WON" signifies that he/she has not played yet.

I remember the days when the norm was to have no one with a perfect first round. Yet again, three contestants accomplished that feat: Charlie02123 (surprise, surprise), CyborgShoes, and texasniteowl. We'll see how they fare in the second round.

I guess we have learned to play this game. The days of players getting ONE POINT (me) in the first round are over.
Wait until the french.

Ponchi......Well, I haven't learned. As is mostly typical for this, I'm tied for 3rd from the bottom. I don't know how I managed to be ahead of even that many. You probably wouldn't remember this, but one time, just for grins, I used randomly generated picks for YCWJ. Of course, I didn't do well with that, but I beat more than 2 people with it.

My stated goal of finishing in the top 30 (out of 32) is looking really hopeless right now. I am out of picks after round 2. Ribbons, who was tied with me for 3rd from last, has moved on ahead. MysterX has tied me, but now has a pick left, so can move ahead with one more successful loss. Yoort is my only hope to avoid being last......Yoort still has one player left. If that one (H. Chung) loses next round, Yoort ties me and will have the chance to leave me alone in last in the next round.

So Yoort, I may even be MORE stunningly bad at this than you are. It remains to be proven.

My odds of running out of men's picks next round are pretty high. But since I picked that half of the team based on everyone's name starting with the letter S (S is for scrub!) I'm not too cut up about it.

GlennHarman

So, not only did I have NO picks make it through the 2nd round of YCWJ, I am also doing stunningly badly at the bracket challenge, which is also typical. For whatever reason, I do seem to do best (for me) at the SP's. I even have managed 3 medals for SP's over the years. I would advise all of you never to bet on my chances of a medal for YCWJ or the bracket challenge. I seem to have no aptitude for those.

GH

P.S. Thanks to Yoort for my new favorite term for my ability at this: "stunningly bad".

Of the perfect first-rounders, only texasniteowl scored over 10 in the second. They lead with 31, while gracie and dollymix are one behind, the latter scoring the best in the second round with 13.

MysterX will be in charge of the remainder of this contest. Tog out!

Round 3 is in the books, and we have some turnover at the top of the leaderboard, as sokoll and gracie are now tied for the lead. Second-round leaders texasniteowl and dollymix are two points back, as is jazzyg.

All of sokoll's open picks lost their round 3 matches, so sokill has 5 remaining players while gracie has 3. Still having 4 picks are jazzyg and ponchi101.

A key fourth round matchup is Svitolina vs Allertova, as both leaders need this match for their number 1 WTA picks. Sokoll is counting on an Allertova upset, while gracie is rooting for Svitolina to survive for one more round.

Yoort has clinched the lowest score, while GlennHarman was the first to lose all of his picks. The TAT contest staff is hotly debating which contestant should be awarded the Wooden Spoon for this contest.

.....but we BOTH are so deserving. I can't believe that I actually TRIED to make good picks and managed to have not one player survive the 2nd round. I was only partly joking that my goal was to make the top 30 out of 32. But THEN, I didn't even manage that....31st place!!!! Yoort, thanks for keeping me from being dead last. But congrats to you also on doing so well in one of the bracket challenges. It looks like you have a great chance to win one of those.

Well, at least I was up there for a short while! I still have 3 WTA players who could help me out...and given the way the WTA plays out these days, anything is possible, but I'm probably out of it now.

Round 4 is complete, and gracie has edged ahead of fellow round 3 leader sokoll into sole possession of first place by three points. Both players have three remaining picks, as do several other contestants. jazzyg and deelighted2 are tied for third, one point behind sokoll.

There was less carnage in round 4 than I would have expected, mainly due to the upset losses of Thiem and Djokovic. Many of the surviving picks had paths which had those players as round 4 victims.

A key match for the quarters is Chung vs Sandgren, where the number 2 picks for both gracie and sokoll are facing off on opposite sides. gracie needs Chung to lose to Sandgren, while sokoll is counting on a Sandgren lost. However, quite a few players still have their #1 pick path still in play, so a come-from-behind victory is still quite possible.

The Semifinals are set, and there was little change in the overall leaderboard. Gracie remains in first, with sokoll second and jazzyg in third. The number of open picks was reduced considerably, from 48 to 21. The Salvatore Caruso pickers were the biggest losers, as his path went through Cilic.

The scoreboard has been updated, but instead of updating the pick tracker, let's look at the remaining picks, and the contestants who have chosen them;

ATP:

John Isner (needs Cilic to lose)
Not picked

Stefanos Tsitsipas (Edmund)
Pick 3 - jazzyg, IronMike

Vaclav Safranek (Chung)
Pick 1 - tolulops, Ribbons
Pick 2 - sokoll, BHar11
Pick 3 - ponchi101
Pick 4 - jazzyg, oploskoffie, weefunk, dryrunguy, Irena2, Omegadoom, PeterSkan

Matthias Bachinger (Federer)
Not picked

WTA:

Madison Brengle (Halep)
Not picked

Shelby Rogers (Kerber)
Pick 2 - tolulops, IronMike
Pick 4 - patrick

Anna Karolina Schmiedlova (Mertens)
Pick 1 - gracie
Pick 3 - mysterX

Mariana Duque Marino (Wozniacki)
Pick 2 - texasniteowl
Pick 4 - vexchaps, Federex

Based on this, I think the following contestants have a chance to win. This analysis is unofficial, however.

gracie - Wozniacki loses in final, or unpicked players win the Wooden Spoon in both ATP and WTA

tolulops - With two high picks. Federer losing in the final or Halep losing in the final and Cilic does not lose in the ATP final

texasniteowl - Mertens losing in the final and ATP WS winner unpicked

IronMike - Another contestant with two picks. Needs Halep to lose in the WTA final and Cilic to lose in the ATP final

jazzyg - Two picks, but both in ATP. Needs Cilic to lose in the ATP final, and no WS winner in WTA.

Good luck to the remaining contestants. Please let me know if I have missed anything.

And we are down to two matches left, with four players who can win the uncoveted Wooden Spoon. One thing we now know is that there will be a winning contestant on both the ATP and the WTA side, and it is possible a contest will have both WS winners Gracie remains in first place, with the pick of Schmiedlova needing a Wozniacki loss to Halep. Perhaps even more impressive are the contestants with 2 remaining picks. Tolulups has Safranek needing a Federer loss to Cilic, as well as Shelby Rogers needing a Halep loss to Wozniacki. IronMike has Stefanos Tsitsipas needing a Cilic loss to Federer, and a Halep loss to Wozniacki. jazzyg is guaranteed to have the ATP WS winner, with the number 3 pick of Tsitsipas and the number 4 pick of Safranek.

The remaning players and contestants are:

ATP:

Stefanos Tsitsipas (Cilic)
Pick 3 - jazzyg, IronMike

Vaclav Safranek (Federer)
Pick 1 - tolulops, Ribbons
Pick 2 - sokoll, BHar11
Pick 3 - ponchi101
Pick 4 - jazzyg, oploskoffie, weefunk, dryrunguy, Irena2, Omegadoom, PeterSkan

WTA:

Shelby Rogers (Halep)
Pick 2 - tolulops, IronMike
Pick 4 - patrick

Anna Karolina Schmiedlova (Wozniacki)
Pick 1 - gracie
Pick 3 - mysterX

The possible final outcomes and contest winners (all unofficial) are:

Federer def Cilic, Halep def Wozniacki (Tsitsipas, Schmiedlova) - gracie wins with 80 pts, jazzyg second with 62

Federer def Cilic, Wozniacki def Halep (Tsitsipas, Rogers) - IronMike wins with 79 pts (and both WS winners), tolulops in second with 70

Cilic def Federer, Halep def Wozniacki (Safranek, Schmiedlova) - gracie wins with 80 pts, tolulops second with 76

Cilic def Federer, Wozniacki def Halep (Safranek, Rogers) - tolulops dominates with 92 pts (and both WS winners), sokoll in second with 69

A Halep/Schmiedlova win gives gracie first place. If Wozniack/Rogers wins, either a Federer/Tsitsipas win gives IronMike the title or a Cilic/Safranek win gives tolulops first place.

Good luck to gracie, tolulops and IronMike, and great picking by the leaders and the contestants in general!

With Wozniacki's title, gracie is eliminated and the contest comes down to the ATP final. A Cilic win gives tolulops the title, while a Federer victory does the same for IronMike.

Whoever wins, the champion will have picked the Wooden Spoon winners in both the ATP and the WTA. Extremely impressive!

IronMike has won the 2018 AO YCWJ contest, with his #2 WTA pick and #3 ATP pick Stefanos Tsitsipas both winning the Wooden Spoon.

Shelby Rogers "won" the WTA Wooden Spoon, losing to Mirjana Lucic-Baroni, who lost to Sasnovich, who lost to Caroline Garcia, who lost to Madison Keys, who lost to Angelique Kerber, who lost to Simona Halep, who lost to WTA champ Caroline Wozniacki.

Stefanos Tsitsipas's path through the draw consisted of losses to Denis Shapovalov, who lost to Tsonga, who lost to Kyrgios, who lost to Grigor Dimitrov, who lost to Kyle Edmund, who lost to Cilic, who lost in the finals to Roger Federer.

I can't believe I didn't win with a guaranteed wooden spoon winner in the men's final. Didn't even finish second.

Congrats IronMike for some sensational picking and being the only other person to pick Tsitsipas. It doesn't get better than having both wooden spoon winners.
