Start off the year with some FREEBIES!

And because of the "different" time zones (to me), I may re-do these three or four times to be safe.

I almost missed this thread. I was expecting to find it in the "2018 Prediction Challenge" sub-forum. Is this the same contest?

Whoops. My bad. I was in a rush. Moved it now

Just to note in case it wasn't obvious, the deadlines are delayed a little from normal in order to give more time as there were issues getting things rolling again at the start of the year. Expect more typical deadlines in accordance with the guidelines here out.

Good luck to all this year. The slog begins.

by the way, are usernames supposed to be case sensitive? I typed Texasniteowl on one instead of texasniteowl and it gave an error. obviously I figured it out, but just curious.

They are case sensitive, yes. The legacy way it's doing it is direct string matching.

I've wanted to overhaul the whole name entry thing for a while but just have not gotten around to it. It's a hassle to alter the way it's done right now. My tools are working on the template forms as they were initially written (Which were based off webpages that were generated from Excel Files. It's all funky wall-of-text javascript blocks using cell coordinates to call about everything. Yuck.)

My first order of business was/is to make the date system dynamic enough where I don't have to edit a bunch of scripts every new year (change pointers from the pc2017 folder to pc2018 folder, etc, etc). Though that wouldn't have helped the new issue that inevitably popped up this year. :p

Picks are posted. There were a couple late entries to the WTA Brisbane which didn't auto-close on schedule. Entries after the deadline will be ignored.

Edit: link was missing from first post and is now there and here http://www.talkabouttennis.com/contests/pc2018/results/010118allpicks.htm

Have we ever had such a uniformity of opinions for the finalists (SHENZHEN)?

Well we've definitely never been MORE uniform at least :)
