ATP Paris is now complete, and that brings an end to the 2017 version of the Greatest Loser. For week 7, mysterX had the high score for the week (just under 1000!), followed by waylandboy-tw and Omegadoom.

The contest turned out to be determined by the results of the two weeks with the 100-point scores, Shanghai and Paris. The high scorers for those combined weeks also happen to be the contest medal winners.

In first place, having grabbed the lead in week 4, and maintaining a healthy lead for the remained of the contest, is waylandboy-tw!!!.

In second place, thanks to winning the final week, jumping up two spots in the overall rankings, is mysterX!!.

In third place, who jumped into third place in week 4, and flitted between second and third for the remainder of the contest, missing out on second place by a very small amount, is Omegadoom!.

Thanks to contest chief dave g for helping out with the scoring for this contest, and to the entire contest staff for their help. But most of all, a big thank you to everyone who played the contest. 16 entries for the end of season tournaments is a testament to some die hard tennis fans (or contest junkies :))

And this concludes TAT fantasy contests for 2017. We will be back in 2018 with a whole new season, so be sure to come back then.

Below is the scoreboard for all players who scored at least 200 points during the contest. As waylandboy-tw mentioned earlier, Paolo Lorenzi was the MVP for this contest, putting up a massive score. What surprised me is that the leading scorers were dominated by B and C players. I thought the D players were the ones who were going to make an break the contest, but the Ds were a lot less of a factor, most likely due to fewer of them competing in the 100-point tournaments.

If you had a crystal ball, and you had picked a starting team of

A - A Zvever, Thiem, Bautista-Agut
B - M Zverev, Khachanov, Lorenzi
C - Sousa, Paire, Troicki
D - Lajovic, Chardy, Donskoy

then you could have relaxed and not bothered with any trades, although your final score would have been ahead of contest winner waylandboy-tw only by a little over 100 points. Goes to show how important it is to get the trades right.

Lorenzi P. 470
Sousa J. 405

Thanks MysterX for running this, and congrats to you and Omegadoom too! Everything went well in Shanghai, and glad I could hang on.

Fantasy title #8, and first time for a title defense too. I hope everyone enjoys the ATP finals and will look to see everyone for A Month in the Sun starting in January!
