Here's the place to talk about the contest! A pick tracker will be posted after main draw play begins, and will in the best case be updated daily. Scoreboards will be posted after each round concludes.

A pick tracker has been posted at http://www.talkabouttennis.com/contests/ycwj/2017-US-Open-YCWJ-Pick-Tracker.htm

Please look over your picks to see if I copied them down correctly, and let me know if I didn't.

We have a fairly large group of contestants. The size of the group should keep you busy.

Oh no, 36 entrants. My chances of finishing in the top 35 just went out the window.

aaaaand my #1 ATP Loser won already.

In other news, it turns out he recently did an AMA on Reddit, then responded to his congratulations thread after his win.

Good for you, Radu Albot! I'll root for you from now on.

Sorry about that. I changed my spreadsheet around a bit and there were more people than I had allowed for. Being at the end of the alphabet, you got cut off. It's fixed now.

The first two days' results have been added in. Remember that if your pick hasn't played yet, a "WON" in white will be next to his/her name, but if he/she actually won, that "WON" will be red.

Congratulations to our contestants, we've set a new record for the largest number of perfect scores in the first round! Six people posted a perfect 20: ktothem1, PeterSkan, Pione Sisto, ponchi101, and Togtdyalttai. Now top that in the second round!

None of our six were able to resist losing a pick in the second round. In fact, all of them lost at least two. Ponchi101 is now in the lead with 37, and Pione Sisto and Togtdyalttai are tied with 35 behind him.

Irena2 and weefunk have both clinched half of the wooden spoon for the constest. They both ran out of picks and finished with 12 points.

This same thing happened to me at Wimby: I reached Friday in the lead. And then, in the next few hours, all my losers won. And I vaporized.
Have to think my strategy a bit better. BTW: Damn you, Misha Zverev!!!!

Ponchi101 still leads by two over Togtdyalttai, 46 to 44. Neither had the highest score of the round though; that belonged to dryrunguy and deelighted2 with 11 each. Many contestants are still in this with a shout.

Dry is in fantastic shape now, with his #1 Pouille losing to Schwartzman, and #2 Kasatkina losing to Kanepi. He's set up very nicely. His men's pick has to be the favorite for the Wooden Spoon.

Ponchi101 still leads, but is now hanging on by a thread. Both dryrunguy (1 point behind), and tenedab (2 points behind) are hot on his heels, each scoring 7 points in the fourth round to his 2. There is still a logjam at the top though, so someone else could still sneak up and take this.

But that's it for me. I only have Kaneppi, who Dry also has, but he has Schwarzman, who lost today to PCB, who will likely lose to the winner of Querrey/Anderson, who will likely lose in the final.
Dry has it.

Because I won't get a chance to update the scoreboard after Federer/Del Potro and before the women's semis begin, I'm going to post it and analyze possible contest winners now. If Federer wins tonight, BHar11 will have one point more than the scoreboard says. If Del Potro wins, Bmoney3 will have two points more. Neither is in contention, however. Now for those who are in contention:

For this contest, Anderson vs. Carreno Busta will most likely decide the winner. If Anderson wins, dryrunguy has the pole position. If Carreno Busta does, tenedab will probably win YCWJ for the second straight time.

GlennHarman also still stands a chance. He needs Federer/Del Potro to lose in the men's final and Vandeweghe to either lose to Keys or win the title.

Well well well well well.

Mr. Tog thinks he can forget about Ol' Fathead Charlie!

Two rounds in a row where I have the most picks remaining, and I don't even get a mention! You think you can treat me like liver that's been cut up in some specific sort of way!?

Well Ol' Fathead Charlie did some calculations. As the only one with 3 picks, and the only contender with both Nadal and Keys, PLUS the unique pick of Venus, surely there's some way for me to win, right!? Well scenario after scenario, the best I could come up with was 2nd. Then I found the Holy Grail.

There are 64 possible outcomes left in the United States Open. I believe that there is ONE in which I tie for first. (The only way this is wrong is in the wildly likely situation that I've miscalculated.)

***Pablo Carreno Busta d Juan Martin Del Potro***

***Sloan Stephens d Coco Vandeweghe***

Tenedab has 53 points with #1 Anderson and #2 Keys. Anderson earns 4 points. Keys earns 3+3+15. Grand Total: 78

GlennHarman has 45 points with #1 Nadal. Nadal earns 4+4+20. Grand Total: 73

Ol' Fathead Charlie has 49 points with #3 Nadal, #3 Keys, and #4 Venus. Nadal earns 2+2+10. Keys earns 2+2+10. Venus earns 1. Grand Total: 78

Tie for first! Blammo!

Ol' Fathead Charlie is correct. Cheers on that one. This is the most complicated contest going into the semis in a while.

It was a really fun ride for 22 hours, but my chances of winning are over now.

I'm at peace. The heroic Madison Keys vanquished Literal Disney Villain Coco Vandeweghe, and I could never be upset about that. Bless you, Madison. I will happily eat with metal or plastic spoons.

Congratulations, dryrunguy! With Anderson and Nadal's victories last night, our fearless forum director will be awarding himself a medal!

The possible wooden spoon winners are now as follows: on the men's side, it will be Andreas Haider-Maurer (held by dryrunguy, ktothem1, and tolulops) if Nadal wins or Thiago Monteiro (held by Bmoney316) if Anderson does. For the women, Misa Eguchi (held by Charlie02123) will take home the wooden spoon if Keys wins the title and Taylor Townsend will be the ultimate loser if Stephens does. No one picked Townsend, but three contestants picked her first round opponent, Ana Bogdan.

This is really quite shocking. I have never done particularly well at this contest, and I'm having trouble remembering precisely what I did differently this time. And I guess it doesn't really matter because neither of the draws unfolded the way I thought they would, so I just kind of backed into this completely by accident. Hell, I didn't even know I was in contention until GlennHarman emailed me a few days ago... LOL!

Thanks for running it, Tog!

Congrats to Dry. I know I didn't finish right at the top. But I'm delighted that I was right in the running to win it all until the men's semifinals. That is a great improvement for me. Like Dry, I have no idea what I did differently that helped me do better, so I may well return to my usual cellar-dwelling by the time of the next YCWJ. Many thanks to all of the contest organizers. Ever since I joined TAT in 2009, these contests have significantly increased my enjoyment of watching the Slams.

For me, on the other hand, this contest is becoming worse and worse. For the second slam in a row, I have been ahead by the first Friday, only to fade instantaneously.
Time for a new strategy
