View Full Version : Day 6 (Friday) F.O.S.P. Mens Pick

Your Friday pick is Round 3, top half of the mens draw. Things are starting to tighten up, only 8 matches to choose from, and some players you want to save for next week (if you survive that long).

REMEMBER - check your previous picks...a duplicate pick disqualifies you, as once you use a player, you cannot use him again for the rest of the game.

Your pick is due by start of play 11:00 a.m. Paris time Friday 6/2:

Â*
Roger Federer SUI (1) vs. Nicolas Massu CHI (32)
Tomas Berdych CZE (20) Â*vs. Â*Nicolas Kiefer GER (13)
MarioAncic CRO (12) vs. Albert Montanes ESP
Lukas Dlouhy CZE vs. Tommy Robredo ESP (7) Â* Â*
David Nalbandian ARG (3) Â*vs. Â*Dmitry Tursunov RUS (31)
Martin Vassallo Arguello ARG Â*vs. Raemon Sluiter NED
Gaston Gaudio ARG (10) vs. Juan Carlos Ferrero ESP (24)
Carlos Moya ESP (30) Â*vs. Â*Nikolay Davydenko RUS (6)

I'm going with Sluiter this round. He's had a couple of quick wins and maybe the qualifier will be tired after winning a tough five setter today.

Well, Mr. Dlouhy had e-e-eh... Rikifujiwara'ed 22 players in two rounds, so I just don't fill it is a good idea to bet against him on this tournament.
And, frankly, it is hard to understand the guys picking a player who have just had a tough 5-setter against a nobody-knows-who and who is now to meet a guy who stormed over Lopez and Volandri - and they (especially - the latter) are not the last men on clay, you know...
So, may be I'm crazy and the Kiefer fans will be loughing me over next evening, but I'm going to die or (hopefully) survive with Mr. Tomas BERDYCH!

I will blame this on you if Sluiter lets us down .... :p

Charlie02123 takes Mario Ancic

Or I would have if Christophe Rochus had not unfortunately had to retire. I am out of the suicide pool on the mens side. I changed my pick from Ollie to Christophe because I wanted to save Ollie for a later round. After seeing his 2, 0, and 2 demolition of his opponent, I am convinced that he will do some damage later on and that it was a smart choice to save him. Unfortunately, Christophe couldn't finish his match and I get knocked out of the pool by a retirement. What a way to go!

I agree you have to save players because the object (for me anyway) is to beat the draw, not just last the longest. If it means you go down earlier, so be it.

I want to use Ancic, but Montanes on clay scares me.

So I'll go with Robredo.

Some of us are saving Robredo for the quarterfinals. And some of us are just hating on Kiefer.

And for some of us those sentiments converge for a Berdych pick.

Go Berdych.
