Indianapolis

mysterX, the winner of TAT's first fantasy tennis tournament, jumps into the lead with 203 points. All but one of his team members scored points.

Following close behind with 196 is shtexas and debbmo_nyc with 193.

Keep an eye on patamf, slicentice, dryrunguy, and borenore2. All four posted teams too late to be eligible for Indianapolis so I'm sure they'll have something to prove as we head into Los Angeles.

I missed cphsrsh's change before scoring Indianapolis. I'd shorted him by 7 points. I've fixed it and the scores are now correct. He still has all 3 substitutions because he made his change prior to start of the tournament.

Sorry about that, cphsrsh.

cphsrsh
07-24-2006, 09:03 PM
No problem Kirkus. Also, thank you for the correction. It should have been my responsibility to notify you of such things, especially my scores, but I was pissed off that I couldn't even crack 100 points while more than half of the other contestants passed the century mark.

If in the ever-slightest chance that I win this contest by less than 7 points, I guess I have you to thank, Kirkus. Thanks, mate.

Kirkus
07-24-2006, 11:47 PM
LOL. If you win by less than 7, I expect half the prize (of course there is no prize so half of nothin' is nothin' ;D )

Actually, you have my scoring partner (who for some reason likes to remain anonymous) to thank for it. He caught the edit in your team and told me about it.

You're doin' fine. Indy was only the first of six... you have plenty of time to climb the ranks.

Since this is the first time I've done a fantasy tournament, I've just discovered how frustrating it is when your team players keep getting scheduled to play against each other!!!! I'm losing two players in two days because of this. ARGH!!! >:( (I know, I should have realized this was gonna happen but I'm a little on the slow side when it comes to figuring these things out. :))

Sorry, just had to vent. :D

LOL. I understand the "just had to vent" part. If you look around TAT you'll see me venting all over the place.

Fantasy tennis is really more than just picking your team and watching the points add up. It's neat to see when players (like you just did) realize that you really do have to pay attention and watch the draws as they come out, check for late withdrawals, etc.

With 178 points, I'd say you're doing great!

Charlie02123
07-26-2006, 01:33 PM
Happened to me too. I have both Safin and Fish, and they played each other in the first round. It's kind of annoying but I also look at it as a plus. I knew at least one of them would make it to the second round.

LOS ANGELES

3mlm takes Los Angeles with an impressive 132 points. debbmo_nyc takes over the lead for total points with 314. cphsrsh gets a high-five for scoring 93 points again. That was his score for Indianapolis. And I'm sorry to say that slicentice and myself must go to the corner for a "time-out" after racking up a dismal 12 points each (don't take your eye off us, though).

Now we're off to Washington for the Legg-Mason Tennis Classic. Good luck to everyone!

Hold all your "thanks" 'til I try and recoop my good reputation next week.

My scoring-partner brought to my attention an error in the scores. I gave Andy Roddick credit for playing through the Quarter Finals when he actually retired following the round of 16. I awared 12 points to his play rather than the correct amount, 5.

EVERYONE WHO HAS ANDY RODDICK ON THEIR TEAM HAS 7 POINTS LESS THAN WHAT IS SHOWN.

I'll update the scoreboard later today. My apologies.

A special apology to cp... this is going to mess up your graph. :-/

Still, thanks Kirkus for doing all that research after only two tournaments.

I'm still happy with my team even tho I had to substitute out Karlovic since he's injured.

Before Cincinnati and Montreal I'll likely substitute in Federer for Hewitt or Roddick (depending on Hewitt's performance and/or Roddick's injury).

Then I'll have one last substitution for whoever.

WASHINGTON

With Clement, Murray and Safin on his team, borenore2 takes Washington with a whopping 181 points. His closest competition was 27 points behind.

We have a new Total Points leader -- Danielle breaks away from the pack with 435 points. Two other players who cracked the 400 mark are obloskoffie (419) and Jack (414).

martini4me jumps into the tournament with an impressive 154 points. With a score like that, missing the first 2 tournaments might not be considered such a handicap.

mysterX gets the consistency prize for scoring 98 points in L.A. followed with 98 points in Washington.

Now its off to back-to-back Masters Series events: Toronto then Cincinnati. Good luck in Canada!!

Congrats to MonkeyPants and debbmo_nyc. The latter is similar to Nalbandian. He has only won one title in 2006, yet is ranked #4. But that means, your results are consistent and in the end it's who has the most points, not the most tournament victories.
