C’mon over. The clay’s fine, and you know all of your player choices will perform exactly as well as you’ve expected them to. Yikes.

Post your accomplishments, vent your frustrations, and commiserate with others over your (probably) alcoholic beverages as you watch all the action, retirements, and withdrawals.

Casablanca is currently on Greenwich Mean Time. Today's qualifying matches started at 11:00 local time. This means 6:00 a.m. U.S. eastern time and 3:00 a.m. U.S. pacific time.

However, the starting times for the main draw matches have not been posted yet. I am quite sure that the main draw matches will not start before 11:00 local time, but they could start later. So, I suggest that you assume that the matches start at 11:00 GMT, and use that as the deadline for getting your teams in.

It took me several tries to get the full feel of this type of contest. So, I recommend for the first couple of times to concentrate primarily on having fun.

My first contest, I was so green that I picked players (hi Stan) who weren't even playing any of the tournaments in the contest.

Unofficial Player counts (I think I'm one short in D category for example)...only one unanimous pick and it's a Spanish clay court specialist...

A:
13 - Nadal
8 - Bautista Augt
6 - Federer, Lopez
5 - Djokovic
3 - Ferrer
1 - Dmitrov

B:
11 - Verdasco
9 - Garcia-Lopez
4 - Giraldo
3 - Chardy, Isner
2 - Robredo, Seppi
1 - Gulbis, Fognini, Triocki, Cuevas, Goffin, Kohlscriber, Anderson, Rosol

C:
10 - Klizan
5 - Thiem
4 - Veseley, Schwartzman
3 - Granollers, Youzhny
2 - Andujar, Monaco, Ramos, Estrella Burgos
1 - Dolgopolov, Kukushkin, Querrey, Coric, Berlocq

D:
14 - Almagro
8 - Delbonis
8 - Struff
5 - Lajovic
2 - Gimeno-Traver
1 - Berankis, Matosevic, Kuznetsov, Melzer

I'm sure a couple people had same thought as me when they saw Almagro in D section...that some people might miss him...not the case clearly!

While I don't have times, all of the websites that I have seen for Monte Carlo have it starting on the 12th, which is Sunday. So, plan on a Sunday trade deadline.

Wanted to see how many people still had 3 left...if I figured it out right 3 have Djokovic, Nadal, and Ferrer (dave, james, and skatingfan.) GlennH has Nadal, Ferrer, and Dimitrov. With the Spaniards playing it looks like no one will have three semifinalists.

Acutally I only have Nadal and Ferrer - couldn't take Djokovic this week because of point total - so I took Federer - which turned out wonderfully - doubled down on him in predictions too.

While I have Djokovic and Nadal, my third person left is actually Raonic. It remains to be seen if that is any better than having Ferrer.

Going into the semi-finals of Monte Carlo, here are the standings. The end of the week standings should look a lot like this because everyone has just Djokovic and Nadal left, except of elleven, GlennHarmon and Ribbons, who each only have one of the two left.

The trade deadline for next week will be the beginning of play in Bucharest on Monday. Play should start at 11:00 a.m. local time, or 8:00 a.m. GMT, or 4:00 a.m. US eastern time or 1:00 a.m. US pacific time.

With Nadal's loss, my score for the week looked precarious. Simon's loss is will just about finish off my hopes of being in the top half of the scores for the week. I think I need Fognini to win Barcelona to stay near the top. Oh well, scratch this week.

I was very nervous about not adding Simon this week...had it been a higher point event I would have. To safeguard against this I took Simon in predictions...contest schizo to the rescue!

I burned my trades too fast. Will remain close to the top but since I will have to trade Novak back in, will not be able to do much with that last trade.
Bummer.

The standings before the third week semis.

waylandboy-tw 493 (Nishikori, Andujar, Garcia-Lopez, Klizan, and Gimeno-Traver)
dave g 463 (Garcia-Lopez, Klizan, and Vesely)
ptmcmahon 458 (Nishikori, Garcia-Lopez, Klizan, and Vesely)
ponchi101 455 (Nishikori, Klizan, and Monfils)
James7 433 (Ferrer, Andujar, and Garcia-Lopez)
Ribbons 423 (Garcia-Lopez, Klizan, and Monfils)
patrick 390 (Nishikori and Klizan)
Miles 379 (Nishikori, Klizan, and Garica-Lopez)
Omegadoom 377 (Nishikori, Garcia-Lopez, and Gimeno-Traver)
skatingfan 368 (Ferrer, Klizan, Nishikori, and Vesely)
Drop-shot 352 (Nishikori, Garcia-Lopez, and Monfils)
e11even 340 (Ferrer, Klizan, and Garica-Lopez)
tenedab 339 (Vesely)
GlennHarman 327 (Ferrer and Klizan)

Waylandboy-tw is not only retaining the lead, but is also the only one with five players going into the semis. Interestingly, he has a player in each of the semis.
I managed to have pulled into second, but that is clearly a temporary situation. The only way I could hold onto second would be if Nishikori loses to Klizan tomorrow.

Waylandboy-tw found some scoring errors, which I have now corrected.

From what I can tell, the women's main draw start on Sunday and the men's main draw start on Monday. The website isn't very clear, but the women's qualifying draw started a day before men's qualifying draw.
To be honest, I could be wrong. So, if anyone knows when the men's main draw starts, please post the information.

There does not appear to be any 'photo finish' as to who the medalists are. However, who gets which medal has not been completely decided.
waylandboy-tw has assured himself of the gold. Omegadoom need Federer to win the tournament to get the silver, and leave the bronze to Miles. Otherwise Miles will earn the silver and Omegadoom will get the bronze.
