Open for business!

You know the drill - swing on by after you get Petko'd, Peng'd, Pospisil'd or Paire'd.

Lose on one side of the draw, and you've been half cheeked - lose on both, and you are consigned her for the remainder of the tournament. Throw a dart at a player, order a pitcher of margaritas and put them on Jill Craybas' tab, or punch up a favorite song from the Jukebox From Hell.

To kick things off - here's a song that celebrates(?) 3 of my favorite things - 1) cheesy 90s videos, 2) Sirius Radio's fantastic new station Utopia, and (if you know your tennis players off the court trivia) a knockout red knicker wearing, forehand blasting Frenchwoman sadly missed on the tour.

Last chance of the year to get a medal on the men's side.
So probably will flame out by tomorrow.
Already at my stool. Will wait a bit to order the first beer!!!

Thanks for the heads-up on Utopia station. I wasn't aware of it. I know BPM played a "utopia" track every day for awhile, but I didn't know it got its own station. I thoroughly enjoyed it this AM once I located it...

I am happy to listen to it with a smile, before I am quickly double cheeked and drinking heavily in this lounge.

This was the song on this morning...

Yeah, fastbackss, I've really enjoyed Utopia since its debut a couple of weeks ago (and thanks to Scotty for pointing it out to me - I tend to get stuck between 49 (Soultown), 50 (The Groove) and 54 (Studio 54 Radio) and rarely venture out of my comfort zone :)

This was among the first tracks I heard...it's also among my all time favorite videos, mainly because the cheese factor is off the charts...

Well, that didn't last long. Lots of orders for Pilsners on the way, I bet. What happened to Radek?

F(&%k-ity, F(&%k, F(&%k, F(&%k ... Radek.

Must have been too long since he sapped all the mojo from a young Czechette.

Pospisil and Verdasco both 1-1 in the fifth. Who gets here faster? :cheesy:

What the f@#! happened with Radek Stepanek? Sheesh! I mean I wouldn't even mind the loss so much if there was true effort but what's up with that score line? Was he even trying to play today?

Another crash. Pospisil took out 43 today (and 107 last year on day 1, for a two year total of 150).

Once a sure bet, he's now too old to be consistently reliable. You should have gone with a new up-and-comer, such as Pospisil, which is what I did. :D

Also, I picked Giorgi. This could be the first time I go out on both sides on the first day.

I have this recurring dream wherein Vasek Pospisil repeatedly knocks me out of suicide pools...

Make room for the Giorgis. And watch the change you left on the bar.

That little trickster beguiled me with her strokes and movement last week in New Haven and papa Giorgi's crazy hair hypnotized me into picking her. THEY WILL PAY.

I had the same issue, but Pospisil or Donald Young.

Benneteau????????????????????????? I was really tired last night, but not even that is a good enough excuse for that pick.

Winston, I got Benneteau'd as well......With some recent success, it seemed like a smart pick when I made it. Well, I was WRONG again!! At least I was only half-cheeked on day 1. There seem to be a lot of double-cheekers in the lounge already.

Bartender......a large glass of a lovely French wine. Wait, make it 2. I want one glass to throw in Benneteau's face when he comes in. Don't want anyone to think I'm a good loser.

I'll have a large stein of you best Brau to celebrate Becker's loss yesterday, but hold off on the vodka as it looks like I might be seeing Day Three with my pick of Vesnina.

and can you turn the tv to the Isner v Giron match? It's surprisingly good (in the first set as I type).

Ugh.....:( Well that was quick, day two and I'm out of both pools...yesterday it was Stepanek's awful performance, and today Cibukova??? Oh, well that's a wrap for me, my next picks will be in January at the Aussie Open. Hopefully I will last longer than two days.

Also, all those Anderson pickers need to buy me a drink for not spoiling it for them by jumping on the bandwagon.

I'm not a loser (yet), but I had to drop in after both my picks won in final-set tiebreakers. I'll tell you one thing: This is the LAST time in this contest that I'm picking either Kevin Anderson or Andrea Petkovic ...

Well, Sloane is becoming another of those great flame outs. Too bad she flamed out one round too early.
And my other pick is about to go out too, so might as well start thinking about the Aussie.
One beer, please...

So I go down this year to the 1208th ranked women and then when my men's pick retires while up two sets to one. Sometimes it doesn't matter if a pick should work out or not.

Oh, Ana... you won my heart in Cincy with your gutsy semifinal win against Maria; I guess you left it all on the court here in Ohio? Sigh... I know you're fragile--I just figured you'd have at least one more round in you. Oh-well, I guess we can commiserate over mango smoothies (which I just learned from her website is a shared favorite drink)...

while I am so bummed that my coin toss of Safarova (I did my research, she had the head-to-head record, surely Peng's ascendancy was going to cap out as usual) failed to progress, this is the first time I made into Week 2! Hurrah!

So, champagne, please.
