Week 1 is over and we have a 3-way tie for first! Miles, Omegadoom, and mysterx all had finalist Karlovic, plus Stepanek in the SF and then three quarterfinalists for 124 points. Good predicting! Of course, no one had the tournament's winner, Bernard Tomic, because he wasn't even close to the top 100 last week and was therefore not a pickable option. *sad trombone*

The Atlanta tournament starts today and it isn't exactly a murderer's row. A good showing by a Category C or D player might be in the cards. Stay tuned!

Well, I said Atlanta wasn't a murderer's row and that there might be some surprises in the late rounds. Cue veteran journeyman Dudi Sela's run to the finals. He was stopped by Dreamy John Isner, however, and a great many of us reaped the benefits of Isner's title defense. The top score in week 2 belonged to tenedab, who scored 145 points using nearly every player on his B,C, and D squads. Second place this week went to Ribbons with 139 - notable because she actually didn't have John Isner on her team. Instead she was the only Dudi Sela picker. Third place went to lukeorion with 130, squeaking ahead of a large mass of players who had between 113 and 126.

One of our three-way leaders last week has squeaked ahead in the overall standings, as well. MysterX is now in first place with 247 points. But just behind with 245 points each are Miles and Omegadoom, enjoying the taste of mysterX's heels :cheesy:.

The big draw in Washington will finally bring a bunch of Category A players into the mix. More points up for grabs may lead to a shake-up at the top. Stay tuned!

Washington D.C. seems to be where a little shake-up happens each year and this year is no different. Riding the performance of the overachieving Donald Young, as well as the Canadian duo who made the finals, this week's winner was lukeorion with 190 points. Just behind in second place at 188 points, despite my poor scorekeeping, is Charlie02123, who was our only player with all 4 semifinalists, I believe. In third place wasTenedab, last week's victor, not far behind with 182 points, coming from an abundance of quarterfinalists.

And it's mysterx who maintains the lead, setting the pace at 419 points. Holding on to second place overall is Omegadoom with 409 points - still well within striking distance. And, showing the virtues of consistency, skatingfan jumps into 3rd place after three weeks of just missing the top three. The overall scores are what count!

Expect more shakeups this week, as we venture to Canada. Masters level events mean more points to be had. As Pospisil showed us last year (to skatingfan's tremendous benefit)- unexpected players can have unprecedented results in these tournaments. When Jeremy Chardy wins this thing, don't say I didn't warn you...stay tuned!

So you're saying Ribbons is winning this week? :D

Ribbons

:hyst:

(He needed three sets against Delbonis. On DecoTurf. That's just dire.)

I'd congratulate the Dodig pickers, but I believe most of you had Isner too. ;)

There's been a minor change to the scoreboard everyone. I made a relatively impactful typo that resulted in Charlie02123 not getting points that he should have been getting. So he actually is in the top three this week, pushing mysterx out of the top three. Mysterx will somehow have to live with merely having the overall lead heading into week 4. ;)

Sorry for the confusion.

Our first of two Masters level tournament has completed and we saw a rather surprising conclusion. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga beat the best two players in the draw to win in Canada, but no one was willing to take a chance with him in our contest, so those potential points will evaporate into the ether. We did have one player with all three other semifinalists including, improbably, Feliciano Lopez. That propels e11even to a commanding weekly win with 204 points. Dave g rode the unexpected performance of Ivan Dodig to second place at 172 points. Tied for third at 165 points are Ribbons and, finally doing something of note, munchin.

The same three players from last week maintain a stranglehold on the top spots, with a slight change in order. Mysterx stays on top, with 559 points. Skatingfan jumps up one slot to silver medal position with 546 points. Just behind is Omegadoom with 545 points.

The scores are so close that we could still see some significant changes this week. Stay tuned!

Dear ponchi: thank you for getting a 4 in week two...it's all that's keeping me out of last place...and even then it's only by 9! Other than my one medal this year I think I've been bottom three every contest this year!

Wow, so people actually had the winner of a tournament on their team this week. Yet it was still a week full of surprises with three players finishing with a convincing lead on the rest of the field. Charlie02123 used a strategically-timed trade for Marin Cilic to nose ahead into first place for the week at 222 points. Waylandboy-tw was not far behind with 213 points. And we have a familiar face in third place - mysterx, who got a boost from the overachieving performances of Steve Johnson and Yen-Hsun Lu.

Once again in the overall lead, if you can believe it, is mysterx, with 768 points. Omegadoom reclaims second place with 738 points. Skatingfan holds on to third place at 735 points. Numerous players are still in striking distance and Winston-Salem's draw is pretty open.

So, going into the final week, the question on everyone's lips (I imagine) is: Can mysterx go coast-to-coast? Mysterx has been in first place overall every single week so far - an impressive accomplishment to say the least, with only Winston-Salem standing in the way of a thoroughly dominant (maybe even unprecedentedly so?) contest victory. :nailbiter:

There was plenty of room for a shakeup at the top of the standings this final week but...no.

The weekly winner by a large margin was e11even, our only play who was holding the winner in Winston-Salem - Lukas Rosol. In a distant second, we have Drop-shot with 75 points, including two semifinalists. In 3rd this week is lukeorion, who was holding a ton of Winston-Salem competitors on his team, with 60 points.

So, our winner is mysterx with 813 points, after a completely dominating performance as the frontrunner every single week. Just barely holding on to 2nd place overall is Omegadoom, with 786 points. Skatingfan finishes in 3rd place, just behind Omegadoom but good enough for the medal podium, with 785 points.

Congratulations to our winners on their uniquely consistent and excellent performances. Thanks again to all of our players and please send a thank you to the contest staff as well. Special thanks to James7, who jumped in and provided some much needed help behind the scenes. I think this is my 6th year administering this particular contest and even though the tournaments change, this contest is always a ton of fun. Enjoy the US Open and please join us again next year on The Hard Road to New York.
