I just didn't want to type her name. Thank god for sloth!

That's a great reason for not picking someone.

My least favorite name for running the game is Pavlyuchenkova. Not only is it long, but I am also certain I spell it wrong every time I type it. So I let out a big :woot: every time she loses, even though it is nothing personal.

I usually copy paste names from the first post for my picks, otherwise I would avoid Spanish players with double last names :-) I'm OK with Russians and Eastern European names, but Spanish names drive me insane sometimes :-)

Moose, I always think of this game when I see this particular KK...

That is awesome, JJ.

I will always have a special place in my heart for her, from when I met her at Indian Wells back in 2008, called her Anna-Lena (as in Groenfeld), and asked to take her picture. Polite as all get out, she stopped, smiled for me, accepted my thank you, and then told me her correct name. And laughed.

To me, it just appears a bit like Cirstea is both flat-footed and a little surprised by the quality of Nara's play. This has got to be very disappointing for her and for a large portion of the suicide pool, of course too.

Jankovic was the easy pick today. I didn't choose her because I think she has a chance to beat Li in the R16 and A Rad or whoever in the QF. If that actually happens, it'll ruin the majority of the pool's chances to beat the draw.

I picked Sloane instead. Now watch her beat Serena on the way to the final.

Under such circumstances serving first is a big advantage. We'll see...

Actually I remember seein a statistic once that showed it doesnt bear out as an advantage for the person serving first. Odd, isnt it?

I'm pretty sure it is if you only count 6-4 and 7-5 final sets.

For 30 people, yes.

And my first year here is finished without a second week appearance. Better luck next time.

I'll take a Manhattan, straight up please.

The Kursed Kerber strikes again!

That match made me think: thank goodness women are not Best of 5.

I was thinking of you all match with the "k", and so many picking it. "K"s truly were kursed this SP :)

Wrong thread. Go to the LL. Be ready to show proof of age and THEN you can order your manhattan ;)

I'm happy I avoided the Kerber match, but A Rad is no guarantee. Makarova is a total giant slayer and this is A Rad's worst slam. Pins and needles!

I almost just typed the exact thing. I was going to gloat about avoiding that CSN/Kerber match but then I realize I'm 60-40 at the most optimistic with my ARad pick.

This is why I'll never win a pool. I'll never win without taking the unconventional pick unless forced to do so.

Long Islands on hold for a moment!

I'm mad that I let folks here dissuade me of picking CSN. Changed to Li Na after a while.

Also, the picks for tomorrow are rough.

My choices after that are already decided (Jankovic/Li and Halep as QF winners, Azarenka over Serena in the final). I'd still feel good about my choices if I end up wrong. It's having to wait on ARad for the right to pick between Vinci/Giorgi and Riske/Hantuchova that's wince-inducing.

Champagne problems. ;)

I picked CSN in the prediction contest. But, I think I would have been chicken to pick her in a suicide pool. In a prediction contest, you are picking 8 qfs. Here, you pick one and live or die with the choice.

You know, Hantuchova barely beat Glusko. Shouldn't have, actually. And wasn't she treated for a shoulder problem during the match? Riske has a great shot if she can handle the situation. Surely she'll have major nerves.

I am out of Queens too, so Manhattan is very appropriate.

Clearly the women's draw grew tired of the action on the men's side and decided to show them what a bloodbath really is...

congrats to the final six!

Wow, I'm pretty shocked regarding Radwanska. Thought she'd make it out of that section with Li having been streaky.

Of course, I had Kerber
