Greetings tennis aficionados! The "off season" is only a few weeks old and already the first tournament of the new season is but a fortnight away. TAT is adding to the fun and kicking off 2007 with a brand new fantasy game: A Month in the Sun!

During the month of January there's four weeks of tennis to be enjoyed, most all of it played outdoors in very sunny conditions. A total of TEN tournaments are on the calendar, including the Australian Open and you'll be playing for points in every single one of them, ATP and WTA! How the game works? Keep reading!

Pick a team

The first step is assembling a team. Duh ;D You get to choose from five player categories, with every category containing a specific segment of the current top-100 rankings. Contrary to previous TAT fantasy competitions the players don't come at a certain value, which gives you slighty more freedom of choice. However... ;D The team you choose is supposed to last you the entire month!! Trading is only possible if a player is injured, so choose wisely.

A team is made up of TWELVE players. Six of them have to be ATP, six of them have to be WTA. You get to pick four players from category A, and two from every category after that. When complete, a team could look something like this.

A selections: Sharapova, Hingis, Federer, Nalbandian
B selections: Ivanovic, Murray
C selections: Rezai, Melzer
D selections: Mirza, Becker
E selections: Wozniak, Llodra

This is an example. It is, however, completely up to YOU how you distribute your six ATP and six WTA picks. If you want to fill up the A list with four ATP players, that's your choice/risk.

Your team is due on december 30th of this year. You must post your team in the "Post Your Team Here" thread (not online yet, but almost ;)). Any and all entries posted at a later date will NOT be accepted.

Scoring

There's a ton of points up for grabs, with A Month in the Sun covering tournaments varying from a Tier IV to a major. Players earn points based on where they finish in a tournament. Round robin matches earn a player a certain amount of points for every win and reverts to regular scoring once the knockout phase begins.

Example of Tier II Tournament scoring

1st round: 3 points
2nd round: 10 points
QF: 20 points
SF: 30 points
F: 45 points
W : 60 points

A complete explanation of how each tournament is scored will be available in the "Points and Rankings" thread (not online at this time ;))
