View Full Version : The Wimbledon SP Loser's Lounge is....

OPEN FOR BUSINESS!

It would not be Wimbledon without a well stocked pub, and it would not be an SP without somewhere for us to gather and watch another bandwagon crash. So pull up an empty stool, and ask for your favorite. If we don't have it, we'll be sure to bluff our way around that fact.

All the traditional accoutrements await you - our staff is eager to serve up your special requests. Tati has broken out the red knickers for another Wimbledon, and if you ask nicely, maybe she'll give you a little peek. The Jukebox From Hell is well stocked with terrible dance classics, forgettable one hit wonders, and all the songs you hoped you would never hear again, and stick in your brains for days once you do (Rick Astley, anyone?)

Traditional rules apply - out in one game, you are "half-cheeked", out in both, you are fully cheeked, and welcome to come up with the most appropriate (or obscene, we don't care) dis of the players that put you here.

And, since it's Wimbledon, and it's all so very English here - how about taking your best guess at our "Guess Wills and Kate's baby's name" contest. I hear Pippa might be stopping by to take notes and pass along suggestions to sis. "Spike" is already taken, for either a little prince or princess.

Hey, I wasn't sure where else to post this, so why not the Losers Lounge...

I wrote these ads for the WTA! I got to record the scripts with BJK, then didn't see the results until they launched this past week.
I think they turned out pretty good :) Just wanted to share with people who'd know what I was talking about.

Here is my contribution to the Jukebox from Hell.

It's a musical science fiction film. :cheesy: I think that says it all but I'd like to also add that this 1979 film takes place in the futuristic world of 1994.

It's directed by legendary schlockmeister Menahem Golan.

Guess what? I managed to (yet again) crash put of the women's side on day 1! Note to self: never pick an unseeded on day 1... or a low seed I don't know much about... or anyone on my no pick list. Serena on day 1 for the US open, if just to survive day 1!!!

That is the only rule I feel one must really follow (not like: Never Pick against/for a French, stay away from the Chinese, etc). With 32 seeds, there is not need to go down the adventure road of unseeded's, WC's or LL's.

[Hic]. Here I am, minding my own business over by the server's garnish trays, trying to catch the bartender's eye and make polite chatter with the waitresses, trying to blend in, trying to not be noticed for being in the lounge pre-maturely, but I needed a drink after confusing De Bakker with an underworlder. And WHAM! Knapp pulled the stool out from underneath me with a two set comeback. I went down hard.

I cracked the back of my skull on the ceramic tiles. When I came to, I was surrounded by hundreds of fellow losers, looking into my slowly-focusing eyes. "Are you all right?" they collectively inquired. "Yeah, what happened?" "It looks like you have been drinking the bartender's special - Killer Koolaid." they all said in perfect unison.

"Forget that crap! Bloody Wednesdays with pickled beets all around! I'm here to stay. Woot Woot! Up your bum Mum!!"
