I'll be posting the scores at the end of each round here. This is also the place to discuss the contest. So feel free to cheer your losers and heckle your winners here.

Can I heckle a participant in the contest? Like Peterskan? Two ladies out on the first day. Ouch! And Lucic-Baroni-Maroni just happened to have been ousted by my Arvidsson. Hehheh. Game On! (Or is it game over?)

I'm eating crow. (I lost two women on Day 2 - Keys and Erakovic) That's the last time I'll heckle a tat gamer in the SP. Bo)

TAT has got to be the website where Jinks are most effective. Taunt somebody (or state that your pick will win) and you are dead.
It's like cyber-witchcraft.

If you wanted to heckle PeterSkan, you needed to be around during the French Open. Note that even though seven of his picks won their first round match, he still did not end up in last place.

Heckle away GuiClay. But before you do maybe just roll your mouse over my awards so you can see that I've won the YCWJ contest three times.

After the first round, an unprecedented 3 people scored a perfect 20 points! dryrunguy, JazzNU, and waylandboy-tw all deserve high praise for the achievement. 6 more contestants also lost only one pick.

These scores are very high for a first round, so they have to drop back down to the average, right? There's still plenty of contest left, and it will be interesting to see whether those who posted the high scores will keep them up in the upcoming rounds.

Good Luck All.

These are high first round points. I think this is the highest first round score I have ever had. Last year, ponchi101 and I were fighting it out for last place. So, when I see his 18 for his first round score, I am really impressed. Congradulations Ponchi :overhead_clap:

Unfortunately two of my round 2 "losers" won. :(

BTW, wouldn't it be a hoot if Rafa turned out to be the wooden spoon on the men's side?

BTW, in looking at the tracker, Janowicz is listed twice for Round 2. My #3 guy at this point should be Giraldo.

Sorry about that. Don't worry though, it was correct on my spreadsheet which generates the scores.

After the second round, scores have regressed to the norm somewhat, but not completely. There are still two contestants, sluggo-13 and waylandboy-tw, with a stellar score of 34. Sluggo did not lose a single pick in the second round, putting up a round score of 17! Wayland is the only one of the three contestants to score a perfect 20 in the last round whose score did not drop off dramatically in this round.

Tied for third are Federex, Omegadoom, and ponchi101, all with 32.

Surely the large amount of upsets so far has to take effect on this contest sooner or later, right?

Good Luck All.

In the third round, picks finally started dropping like flies. After the carnage, sluggo-13 has taken control, opening up a 6-point lead over his nearest competition with 46 points. He also was the only contestant to post a double-digit score in the round with 12.

In second is waylandboy-tw with 40. He seems to be on the decline however, as his round score was not nearly as high as some other contestants.

Third is ponchi101 with 39, who is moving up quite nicely.

The second highest score of the round belonged to lukeorion, but he stands well in back of the leaders.

Things should start heating up in this contest soon, so stay tuned.

Good Luck All.

After the Fourth Round, the dust has started to settle. One men's pick (Lukas Lacko, currently represented by Fernando Verdasco), and one women's pick (Laura Arruabarrena-Vecino, currently represented by Sloane Stephens), are held by many. Other than that, there are few picks remaining. That means that there are also few contestants with a chance of winning. I won't do a thorough analysis of that until the next round, but here's the list of contenders:

sluggo-13 is in first with 54. He is the favorite to win the medal, and he posted the highest round score once again in the fourth round with 8.

waylandboy-tw and ponchi101 are tied for second with 46. Unfortunately for ponchi, since he and wayland share the same picks remaining, ponchi has no possible way to win the contest. In any case, congrats to him on his best (I think) showing at this contest.

dave g is in sixth with 40, but he has a pick shared by only one other contestant remaining (Aljaz Bedene, represented by Juan Martin del Potro).

The long shot to win is munchin, currently with only 27 points but also holding a pick shared by only one other contestant (Tatjana Maria, represented by Kirsten Flipkens). He would need a lot of help, but it's still possible.

Good Luck All, especially to the four still in contention.

"Unfortunately for ponchi, since he and wayland share the same picks remaining, ponchi has no possible way to win the contest. In any case, congrats to him on his best (I think) showing at this contest."
I don't think this statement is actually correct. I have the top three contestants as:
Sluggo13 with 54 points picks: Murrray at 4, and Stephens at 4
Waylandbow with 46 points, picks Verdasco at 4 and Stephens at 2
Ponchi with 46 points, picks Verdasco at 3 and Stephens at 4,
So, if the Verdasco pick and the Stephens pick are both wooden spoons, Ponchi wins, (I think).
I am at 40 points, and my remaining picks are Del Potro at 4 and Stephens at 2. So, I need the Del Potro pick to be the wooden spoon.

Based on last year's results, Ponchi and I being in the running at the quarter finals:

addendum: If my calculations are correct: if Murray wins tomorrow (as I would expect) and the picks currently represented by Sloane Stephens and Juan Martin Del Potro are both wooden spoons, the Sluggo and I actually end up tied.
It looks like we might be headed into another photo-finish.

After the Quarterfinals, we're down to the top 3 in contention for the grand prize. sluggo-13, ponchi101, and waylandboy-tw have all been near the top the whole contest, and one among them will now surely end up the winner. As for who the winner will be, here are the scenarios:

If Kirsten Flipkens loses in the women's final and Jerzy Janowicz does not lose in the men's final, sluggo-13 will be our champion.

If Kirsten Flipkens loses in the women's final and Jerzy Janowicz loses in the men's final, that honor will belong to ponchi101.

If Kirsten Flipkens does not lose in the women's final and Jerzy Janowicz loses in the men's final, waylandboy-tw will win.

If Kirsten Flipkens does not lose in the women's final and Jerzy Janowicz does not lose in the men's final, sluggo-13 will take home the medal.

Good Luck All, especially to the three still in contention.

(I apologize for counting ponchi out too early in last round's analysis. Thanks to dave g for pointing out my blunder.)

Except on Tuesday's and then ....

I'm glad that you got the opportunity to figure out results this complicated and not me.

With Bartoli's win, ponchi101 has now been eliminated. If Murray wins tomorrow, the winner will be sluggo-13. If Janowicz wins, waylandboy-tw is still in with a shot.

Wow, I did not realise how close I was to winning a medal. I guess I am better at picking losers than winners. lol

If Lisicki wins, I think Ribbons wins the wooden spoon for Razanno, right. Ribbons is the only poster to pick Razanno. What's the WS bonus: still 20 points? Won't be enough for Ribbons to vault into the lead, but close.

It's 5x the confidence in the pick, and Ribbons has Razzano as his confidence 1 pick, so just 5 points bonus.

That's correct.

Unofficially, if Bartoli wins, then Begu would be the wooden spoon, that nobody picked. On the mens side, if Djokovic defeats Murray, then it would be the pick of Stan Wawrinka, and if Murray defeats Djokovic, then its the pick of Carlos Berlocq, with nobody correctly choosing either.

The semifinals decided the winner of this contest: it will be sluggo-13. With wins by Sabine Lisicki, Marion Bartoli, and Andy Murray, the only contestant with a pick remaining is Ribbons, who picked Virginie Razzano (currently represented by Marion Bartoli). That means that waylandboy-tw and ponchi101 cannot catch sluggo, and that these three contestants will comprise the final top 3.

Ribbons may end up picking a wooden spoon winner, but the other possibilities for the awards are Irina-Camelia Begu (if Bartoli wins), Stanislas Wawrinka  (if Djokovic wins), and Carlos Berlocq (if Murray wins).

Thank you all for playing this contest, and congratulations to sluggo-13! I'll post a final scoreboard after the women's final, and a wrap-up after the men's final.
