daveg will post the score at the end of each round here. This is also the place to discuss the contest. So feel free to cheer your losers and heckle your winners here.

Yay...I was just sitting thinking we didn't have many contests open yet!

We have 33 teams signed up. I thought that I would check to see who we picked most. I used two criteria: the number of people who picked them and the total number of points people will get from their losing their first round match, e.g #1 pick = 4 points, #2 pick = 3 points, etc.

In first place, by a fairly large margin, is James Duckworth, who is on 21 teams for 69 points. James has already demonstrated that our confidence in him is justified by losing his first round match. Go, James! On the men's side Nick Kyrgios came in second, being 18 teams for 42 points. James Blake and Jan Lennard Struff are vying for third. James is on 10 teams for 24 points, while Jan Lennard is only on 9 teams but for 27 points.

The race on the women's side is much closer. Heather Watson is on 13 teams for 35 points, Anna Karolina Schmiedlova is on 12 teams for 36 points, and Ashleigh Barty is on 11 teams for 28 points.

The first round isn't completed yet, but all my losers have played. I guessed wrong on my #1 guy (Sijsling) and my #4 gal (Soler-Espinosa), so I believe my score is 15. I think Sijsling was chosen by some other TATers and Kyrgios was also uncooperative. I'll be curious to see if anyone gets a perfect first round score or close to it.

I think I'm 8 for 8. Hradecka and Baltacha being two of my least favorite players to watch gets some of the credit here.

The actual scoreboard should be coming soon. After each round, I'll make the changes to the original scoreboard instead of creating a new table each time.

Congratulations to Ribbons for a perfect score of 20. All of his picks successfully lost. tolups came in second this week with 17 points. Federex, ponchi101 and Arthur Gromko came in a three way tie for third with 16 points.

Well done leaders!

Hear, hear! :overhead_clap:

I will settle for Lucie Safarova losing and living up to my confidence in her ability to lose any match she chooses.

I don't have edit permission to update the version of the scoreboard in this thread, so we (dryrunguy) created a new version in the 'Scoreboard' thread that I can update. So, I will post the changes to that version of the scoreboard, but still announce who performed best each round and the overall leaders in this thread.

I want to give a special shout-out thanks to dryrunguy, who solved my problem even before I told him that I had one. :thanks:

I have just posted the first round results in the pick tracker.

Round 2 Results
Our top Round 2 performers are Omegadoom with 15, Carlitos2006 with 14 and Takao with 13.
Overall Ribbons is still in the lead with 32, Omegadoom has moved into second with 30, and Carlitos2006 has moved into third with 29.

Congratulations to our second round leaders!

The round 2 Pick Tracker results have been posted.

The gif that keeps on giving: The most frequently chosen pick, James Duckworth, continues to generate points and thereby demonstrates that his is worthy of our confidence. ;)

Stefanie Voegele beat Kanepi in round 2.

So many of us should have another pick gone...

Stefanie Voegele beat Kanepi in round 2.

So many of us should have another pick gone...
Not only are the picks wrong, the points are wrong. That is why we work in pairs. Omegadoom is double checking my work and telling me everything I got wrong.

Corrected Round 2 results

I had Kanepi beating Voegele instead of Voegele beating Kanepi. I have corrected the scoreboard and will shortly correct the Pick Tracker.
After the corrections, there is a four way type for best round 2 results: Ribbons, chaitu341, Takao, and carlitos2006 all earned 12 points.
Ribbons retains the overall lead with 32, second is carlitos2006 with 27 and Arthur Gromko and Omegadoom are tied for third with 26.

The third round results have been posted to the Scoreboard and will be posted to the Pick Tracker shortly.
The scoring leader for the third round is Martini4me with 10 points followed by chaitu341 and Omegadoom with 9 points.
Ribbons retains the overall lead with 39, followed by carlitos2006 and Omegadoom with 35.

The fourth round results have been posted to the Scoreboard and will be posted to the Pick Tracker shortly.

The fourth round scoring leaders are Martini4me with 9, followed by chaitu341 and carlitos2006 with 8 points.

After four rounds of play we have a three-way tie for first . Ribbons, Martini4me and carlitos2066 all have 43 points.

On another note, the most popular pick (James Duckworth) is still in the race for being the wooden spoon holder on the men's side. He generated over half (69 out of 125) of the points earned this round. Go James!

Ribbons

Charlie, what did I tell you? Martini and Carlitos will overtake me next round. I am the David Ferrer of this contest.

dave g

Quarter-final results have been posted to the scoreboard.
The leading point earner for this round was Martini4me with 9, followed by Federex, Takao, and Irene2 all with 6 points.
The new overall leader is Martini4me with 52, followed by carlitos2006 with 48, and Ribbons with 47.

The James Duckworth pick is leading the points earning this round with 69 points out of 103.
Each of the men's semifinalists are represented by a pick, which means that we are guaranteed that someone has the men's wooden spoon winner on their team. However, on the women's side, there is only one pick left.

This is quite exciting! I would love to see a complicated scenario for a *photo finish* at the end. Looks like it will be a close competition. Many thanks for the complicated and time consuming work you are doing for this contest!

dave g

Semi-final results:
Our leading point earners are Mysterx and Irena2 with 4 points each, followed by waylandboy-tw, Martini4me and Justme with 3 points each.
Martini4me is our overall leader with 55, followed by carlitos2006 with 48, and Ribbons with 47.

With David Ferrer's victory over Jo-Willy Tsonga, James Duckworth's campaign to become the wooden spoon winner has come to an end. There are no picks left on the women's side. However, both of our finalists on the men's side represent wooden spoon picks.

Lead-up to the "Photo Finish":
While Martini4me is one of the few people left with a pick in the race, his pick is represented by Rafael Nadal. So, if Rafael Nadal loses on Sunday, Martini4me will be our winner. However, if David Ferrer loses, then MysterX, currently with 37 points, will earn an additional 24 points and win with 61 points.

IIRC, MysterX has won this a couple of times before, no?

I would not be unhappy with a Ferrer win. But if the inevitable does happen Rafa takes it, I'll get a consolation prize at least.

06-09-2013, 06:55 AM
David Ferrer? My hopes rest on Ferrer defeating Nadal? That's cruel and unusual punishment. And if Tsonga had showed up for the semi-final and beaten Ferrer there, I'd have been guaranteed the wooden spoon, now matter who won today.

dave g
06-09-2013, 03:12 PM
MysterX won with 61 points, Takao managed to move into second with 57, followed by Martini4me with 55. We only give out one medal for this contest and it goes to MysterX.

In addition to MysterX and Takao, Federex, waylandboy-tw, e11even, Fedhenin and Justme all had the men's side wooden-spoon winner, Denis Kudla.

Congrats, Mysterx. Another close but no cigar for me here. And thanks, as always, to the organizers.
