View Full Version : The FOSP Loser's Lounge is Open For Business

What's a Slam without a Suicide Pool? And what's a suicide pool without our legendary Loser's Lounge? For the 9th year, our Roland Garros Loser's Lounge is now officially open for business.

Janko or Caro pull another first round stunner? Confuse your Mayers or Pliskovas? Find yourself getting Safarova'd, Malisse'd or Krumm'd? Well, here's the place for you.

Losers Lounge Lingo - if you lose in one of the two games (mens or ladies) you are what we call here at TAT a "half cheeker". Once you've lost in both games you are fully cheeked. And if history is any indicator, we'll have some full cheekers here beginning Day 1. This game is a LOT harder than it looks.

So pick out a spot, make yourself comfortable, pick out a favorite song on our Jukebox From Hell, or simply say something snotty about a player. It's a long two weeks from now til the end of the French, and if history is an accurate indicator, some of us are going to be spending an awful lot of time in here.

Since this is the FO lounge, will Tati be making an appearance?

A French Open without Tati? Why, that would be like a Maid/JJ match without a medical time out!

I sign in early to get a drink or two. Won't be able to participate this time as I leave for a short vacation (6 days) next Thursday and will not be taking my computer with me. Have fun and I'll be back for Wimbledon! :D

unfortunately, that is the case, especially against Robson.

either way, glad to see the lounge is open again, but i hope i won't be back here for at least a week! :)

Simple Simon almost sent me here on my very first pick ever. He was down two sets to none and had never come back from two sets down in his career. Then he wins the next two sets and is up 5-0 in the fifth before proceeding to lose the next 5 straight games. But he came through in the end so I am just a visitor here... for now.

I cannot remember the last time I made it to round 2 of a women's gs sp! It's frustrating! Why can't I do better in the women's draw? So far, with more than a complete half of the draw done on each side (for a complete bracket prediction): I am 29-13 on the men's draw and 24-20 on the women's draw. That's how my draw predictions have tended to go the past 2 to 3 years, sigh.

For me, a freezing cold Hoegaarden please, to drown my continued sorrows of terrible picking.

One day - when I finally convince myself I'm never going to win - I want to try just picking super-safe picks early on. Nadal and Serena for day 1! I just want the satisfaction of making it four or five days. Plus, if it works, it'd be unique to be eliminated for running out of picks early!

Unfortunately, the time delay between the slams always makes me think, "Oh, I really got a good feeling about this tournament..."

Indeed. He has been completely unable to make a dent on Vessely's serve, a player that does not even have a profile in the ATP website.

sigh.. I hate the Dominka picks..I think she burnt me before in suicidal pool.
But my other consideration was Maria K, but I want to keep her for later rounds..And it seems her draw is now opening up, so saving her seems like a good choice..

It is just hard to find many consistent players outside top 10 (and maybe not even for some in top 10) in WTA..

JazzNU
05-30-2013, 08:09 AM
Yeah, that's why I went with Dominika too. She can play well on clay too and her opponent hasn't done anything good in months. I knew others would lose today, hoped Dominika would remain steady because it was clear to me that I would need a few of today's other possible picks in the next round or two. Didn't even make it til the freaking weekend. So much for winning a practice round. Still mad about the women's loss more than the men's today with Raonic. My second choice was Cilic, clearly I wasn't meant to last through today this time. Let's hope I fare better at Wimbledon.

I'm not much for beer, but love a liqueur, so in honor of the French Open, I'll take a Grand Marnier please.

I'm as happy for Julie Hampton as I am bummed for myself being taken of the SP, so...bright side, I guess.

I actually do this on purpose sometimes, pick against players I'd like to see win, so I'm happy either way. SPs make you a little crazy... :cheesy:
